Subject? We don't need no stinking subject!
Saturn found several things wrong with my car that they think could be attributed to the car thieves, and who am I to argue? They said the disc brakes are warped which could come from very hard use. If I can get new brakes out of this, I'm happy. They also said my tires had damage that might be from the thieves, and that my seat had a problem with it. Hey, new tires and a new seat? Well, I'll have to see what my insurance agrees to.
And they want to change the oil and belt and some other engine fluid and do a tune up. Well, I probably can't get my insurance to pay for all of that, but it probably needs done anyway.
But it looks like I won't be seeing my car again until at least next Monday, because I assume they won't be working on it the rest of the week.
So I bought two new cds on Monday. I haven't bought any since before my car was stolen, because I mostly listen to cds in the car and at work. First one is Peter Gabriel's new cd which is very good as Sky will attest. Second one is by Audioslave, which I like an awful lot. It's better than any Rage Against the Machine or Soundgarden disc in my opinion. And if you don't know why I would compare it to those two bands, Audioslave is what you get when Zack De La Rocha or whatever his name is quits Rage and then Chris Cornell, the old Soundgarden frontman, joins up to take Zack's place. Let's just say, they sound like a post-grunge band, much like Soundgarden only I think the musicians from Rage are better than Soundgarden had, and Chris is a better writer than he used to be. In any case, the guitar work is a lot more creative. And they're a lot less political than Rage was... well Rage was just about the most political band ever and Cornell doesn't write politically at all, so it's a big big change. He doesn't rap either.
But if they were gonna change their name, you know, they could have stayed close to their roots with something like "Depressed About The Machine". ^_^ ^_^
So anyway, the new Boston cd was out, with their old lead singer back, but I manage to resist picking it up. Some other new stuff out too that I need to look for, Annbjorg Lien has a new live cd out and the Ukranians have finally put something new out.
I bought one of those cassette converter things tonight so I can listen to my cd walkman over the rental car's cassette tape player. Man I should have thought of that three weeks ago.
