Speaking of ultra-loud alternative rock power trios fronted by people with enough creativity for ten other bands (and who have been in ten other bands)... Bob Mould's band Sugar only managed two full-length studio releases and a couple of EPs before they broke up, but they were still one of the best bands of the early 1990's.
