Today's Song: I Wanna Be Like You by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

So C-Dawg at work has been singing songs from the Jungle Book this week. His kids love that movie, so they're stuck in his head. This reminded me that I had at least two good covers of Jungle Book songs -- I Wanna Be Like You by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Trust In Me by Siouxsie and the Banshees. I figured I could also find some more good covers of the other songs if I looked around, but in fact most of the covers are of either I Wanna Be Like You or The Bare Necessities. There's a good cover of I Wanna Be Like You by Los Lobos, which originally appeared on the cd Mad About the Mouse I believe, and which I swear I owned at one point but can't find now. I downloaded that from iTunes, as well as a very nice cover of The Bare Necessities by Louis Armstrong, but that was where my dreams of assembling an all-covers cd of Jungle Book songs came to an end.

Anyway, the Los Lobos version is very good, but Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is still my favorite.
