Today's Song: Dance with Me by Lords of the New Church
I don't know much about Lords of the New Church. They were formed by four members of well-known punk bands, so they were a sort of punk band supergroup, but they crossed over into glam rock and goth rock and mixed it all together. Certainly Dance with Me has more of a goth feel than punk or anything else, but you can tell that this band was around at about the same time as Billy Idol, too.
I first heard this song in the early 80's because a roommate of mine was a fan of the band. I loved this song, but never became much of a fan of the band in general. Anyway, years later (about a year ago or so) I heard a cover of the song by Nouvelle Vague and remembered that I liked it, so I went out and ordered the cd and now I finally own it myself. It's still a nice song. ^_^

The Nouvelle Vague version is a really nice contrast. I like their version too:
