Today's Song: Solid Rock (Sacred Ground) by Goanna

Last night I was DJing for [livejournal.com profile] inaratalamasca and [livejournal.com profile] aliannam. I was playing mosstly power pop tunes because that's what I've been into the last few days, but because Ali is from Australia I decided to play Great Southern Land by Icehouse. I followed up with a few more Aussi hits -- The Dead Heart by Midnight Oil, Timeless Land by Yothu Yindi, and Dumb Things by Paul Kelly among others. I played a track by Hunters and Collectors but despite having three of their cds, I didn't have the songs Ali requested. I also didn't have the more recent music from Silverchair, and my INXS and Boom Crash Opera cds were sadly not ripped to my hard drive. Worse, I apparently own nothing by Men at Work on cd -- everything of theirs that I own is still on vinyl I guess. When was the last time I listened to them?

Ali requested some other Aussi favorites that I'd never heard of. One of them was Solid Rock (Sacred Ground) by the band Goanna. Sadly, I can't download their music from iTunes, eMusic, or Amazon, although I could order the full cd for about $12 if I wanted. It's a nice song but I don't know if I need to own a full cd of theirs. Still, for what it's worth, here it is as my song of the day:
