miko2Today's Song: Brass in Pocket (I'm Special) by the Pretenders
Jumping ahead a few years, this is a song that I loved in high school. The album this song came from was one of the first tapes I ever bought and owned... especially significant because I only knew the one song from it. And I remember I was really disappointed with the rest of the songs on it. It wasn't until years later that I learned to appreciate the sharp and ragged punk rock that was the Pretender's main music style... this little pop tune was a bit of an aberration for them. In college I picked up their second album and fell in love with harder punk rockers like The Adultress
