Today's Song: Wizard Flurry Home by Mariee Sioux
This is another of the songs I've recently discovered via Pandora radio. I've downloaded two songs by Mariee Sioux, and I like them both quite a bit.
She's very young -- about 23 now I think. She didn't really plan to become a musician, but she liked writing poetry and picked up the guitar. Her father plays the mandolin and performs on her cd, and also a Native American named Gentle Thunder provides flute. Despite the name Mairee is not Sioux -- she's part Polish and Hungarian from her father and part Spanish, Paiute, and Indigenous Mexican from her mother. It all works though; her poetry and themes fit well with the Native American feel of the music and the flute playing.
