So I was planning to spend my morning and part of my afternoon playing City of Heroes. Instead, I first decided to construct a "Geek Rock" playlist for my iPod. This led to researching Nerdcore Hip Hop artists (I was really only familiar with MC Frontalot but I knew there were others out there -- a lot of others as it turns out) and Geek Rock in general. Suffice it to say I spent half the day watching videos and downloading songs, most of them free but a few from iTunes.
This song by MC Chris is inexplicably not available for download anywhere except as part of a movie soundtrack where iTunes forces you to download the ENTIRE soundtrack rather than pick any one song from it. That's very annoying, especially since this used to be a free download from MC Chris's web site, and now I can't even pay to download it. So I tracked it down through other means. >.> Anyway, I'd heard it before and it's a fun song.
What follows is a list of other songs I put on my "Geek Rock" playlist. Almost as annoying was discovering that The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets has a song (Shhh...) that you can play in Guitar Hero 2, but which you can't even find for sale or download anywhere.... what is wrong with these people? I'll pay if you let me honest!

I had trouble deciding what song by Devo and by They Might Be Giants to include... songs that fit my "geek" theme...
You know, a cd from MC Frontalot, Optimus Rhyme or MC Hawking would have made a great Christmas gift for any number of my friends. Why can't I think of these things in November?
