Today's Song: Gula Gula Chilluminati by Mari Boine

I have several cds by Wimmi Saari, a Sami joiker (kind of a singing/chanting that bears some resemblance to American Indian chanting). He combines his joiks with some electronica for interesting effects. I also own one cd by The Girls of Angeli, another Sami joiker group.

I had never actually heard about Mari Boine until this week but she does the same kind of thing, only maybe even better. At least, there's a greater emphasis on electronic music, which may be better or worse depending on your perspective. But after hearing one of her songs I had to download several from eMusic and iTunes. This is one of them. ^_^
