Monday morning it was wet, having rained earlier. It was overcast, but the sun was shining through a hole in the clouds, lighting up the trees to the West. It was really beautiful. While I was driving to work you could see beams of sunlight shining through that hole in the East. It looked like God was about to descend through the clouds.

Later it snowed, despite temperatures well above freezing. Then the sun came out, but it got colder. It was clear overnight and freezing, so this morning there was frost on my car. The sun is bright and the sky is clear, so of course they're forecasting rain later. Welcome to March in the Northwest!

I'm usually the first in the office at work. I get there at 6:30 AM, the next person doesn't start until 7 AM. In the morning I always have a cup of hot cereal and make tea. This morning, I made some Teavana "Sour Cherry Serenade" which I got from Pandora house. I haven't tried it yet, but the "Sweet Cranberry Black" that they'd given me last year is almost gone, so I brought this in to work. I make tea at work much more often than I make it at home.

Usually I make oatmeal for breakfast. I use the instant packets, and I buy the "lower sugar" version of course. The variety pack contains cinnamon, maple sugar, and appels & cinnamon. I tend to like the cinnamon best but you get fewer packets of that. I can usually buy these at Fred Meyers on sale, but if I want something different I have to go somewhere else.

My coworkers think eating oatmeal in the morning is abnormally healthy and unappetizing.

Top Foods has the berries & cream oatmeal in lower sugar form... strawberries & cream, peaches & cream. They also have a cream of wheat variety pack in variety form that I sometimes get. Fred Meyers has neither of those. The cream of wheat is not "lower sugar" and it's not really a whole grain, but it doesn't contain as much sugar as regular instant oatmeal packs so I sometimes get it.

There are also some health food hot cereals that I can't find at either Fred Meyers or Top Foods, so I pick those up at places like Marlene's Market (health food market).

More recently I found a cream of wheat "healthy grain" whole grain maple & brown sugar (made with splenda not sugar) at a little market at the top of Lea Hill near where I live. I haven't seen this for sale anywhere else, but obviously it's even healthier than the lower sugar oatmeal and much healthier than the normal cream of wheat. I hope that market keeps it in stock.
