Ren is an orc

I've been listening to the Lord of the Rings re-enacted on cd. It was done in 1979 so some of the special effects are... special. For example, any time Gandalf does magic, you get to hear cheesy moog synthesizer goofy science fiction sounds. That's supposed to be magic, I guess. And every time the Nazgul Lord flies overhead on his great winged dragon beastie thinngy, we're told that everyone hears a horrible screaching sound that fills them with fear -- and we're treated to something that sounds like a spastically laughing drunken crow. Let's just say that it fills me with something a little short of fear.
Then there's the voice actors, some of whom are much worse than others. For God alone only knows what reason, one of the worst actors gets to voice Frodo, the main character, and another of the really bad ones gets to do Aragorn. Some of the more inspired voices come from the lesser and unnamed characters.
For example. In vol 8 (of 9) Frodo and Sam overhear two orcs arguing, and for whatever reason, we'll never be able to guess why, one of the orcs has a wheezing Hispanic accent. In fact, he sounds EXACTLY like Ren from Ren & Stimpy. I swear I'm not making this up, and I got my co-workers to listen to confirm that I wasn't just hearing things.
Ren is an orc in Mordor. Who'd have thunk it?
I had to listen to that part several times, it made me laugh so hard.
