Sunday Sunday Sunday
Feb. 2nd, 2004 02:19 amI made nachos today. Ostensibly this was for the Superbowl but I didn't go out to buy the stuff until the game was nearly half over. Oh well, not like I was too interested in the game anyway, although it was a pretty good one in the end.
I bought some dice at Gary's Games... I wanted some 6 sided dice and didn't get any for myself when I was shopping before Christmas. Then I went to Fred Meyers, although I didn't find most of what I was looking for, and then got stuff for nachos.
I thought I remembered everything... refried beans, hamburger, taco seasoning, lots of cheddar cheese, salsa, avacados, sour cream, black olives, green onion, tomatos... and chips of course.
Later I realized that I didn't get any garlic or nacho jalapeno slices. That would have spiced it up a bit. Oh well, it was pretty good anyway.
While the game was going I burned some of the cds I've been meaning to make for
berbalang Been meaning to do that for a while, at least I've started it now.
Afterwards we watched three consecutive episodes of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I hadn't watched this before, since it's on cable and anyway I don't watch a lot of tv. As "reality" television goes, it's pretty good. Unlike any other similar show, Queer Eye is not built around making fun of or humiliating other people. Just about any other reality television show seems to revolve around that premise. Queer Eye includes a lot of making fun of the guy and his apartment/posessions at the begining, but the main point is always to help him improve all aspects of his life. I like it for that reason... unlike trading spaces, the goal is to rework his apartment in a way that's practical and that he and his girlfriend will like. Usually they're involved in some of the decisions. So in that way the whole atmosphere of the show is fun and positive rather than mean-spirited.
But eventually I was driven to putting on my headphones and playing Toontown. It's not even as if I want to play all the time, but I can't sit in the living room and read because Tom is watching television or movies 95% of the time. There's really no where else in the house to go to sit down and read... my room doesn't work well for that. So I often feel like I don't have access to my own livingroom, and since I don't want to watch tv I go play video games instead.
I tried to play on my backup computer. Unlike most games I've played, with Toontown you're allowed to play the same account on Test and on Open simultaneously. I've never tried this before, and now I remember... Toontown doesn't want to run on my second game computer. When it loads the screen goes all wonky. So since it seems to be a graphic problem, I updated Windows, Directx, and my Nvidia driver, but none of that fixed the problem. I'm now thinking that it might just be my crummy 13 inch monitor. In any case I'd like to run the 2nd gaming computer through a kvm switch and use my main monitor... but I need a bigger kvm switch first, so I can link more than two computers.
Anyway now that Tom's gone to bed I can go back to reading. Been reading a book I picked up in December about the life of a geisha. No scandals or anything, but it's interesting for the detailed descriptions of what it all entails.
