I should write something about Norwescon. And the first thing that comes to mind is I want to sleep.

Let's see... got there late Thursday. I don't remember anything that happened on Thursday either. Dinner at Denny's, I guess. I read a lot (Witches Abroad). Couldn't get to sleep that night, so I got back up and wandered around the hotel, read for two more hours.

Oh yeh -- bought some stuff in the dealer's room. A long-sleeved con tee shirt, a hardback book collecting the Rose comic (based on Bone). Maybe some other stuff? I forget.

Friday... drove with Gene, Mike, Sky up to Gene's house, did some shopping at Safeway. Got back... Gene and I did a Fanfiction panel at 8 pm, it went pretty well. Two of our audience members wrote Dragonball Z slash fanfic and Adam West Batman fanfic. Honest.

Ate dinner in the bar beforehand, happy hour, everything was half price (good pizza!) but it took forever to get checks and we got overcharged one beer. As near as we could tell... everyone's checks were messed up.

Sky and Mike crashed early... Jeri-Lynn crashed early in the other room, so we couldn't play any games. Gene stayed up writing, I read more, finished my book, and then wrote some.

Oh yeh... bought more stuff in the dealer's room. Love Hina DVD for one thing.

Saturday. What did I do? Hmmm, breakfast buffet in the lounge. Um... I forget what came after that. Eventually, another fanfic panel with Gene at 2 pm. This one was called "How Have Computers Changes Fan Fiction/Fanzines?" but a better title would have been "How Did Fanzines Work Before Computers?" because that's what we mostly talked about. The Fan Guest Of Honour has made fanzines since 1963 (since I was born basically) and so he talked a lot about mimeographs and other old tech.

After that it was off to our Tai-Pan party. We hauled chips and drinks down from our room to Keith/Juli/Jeff/Jeri-Lynn's room. Had fun, saw my old roommate Mike (not Gene's Mike) that I hadn't seen for six years, and my old sort-of friend Rob. They were staying in a room right across the hall with Juli's brother (which came as a surprise to everyone -- weird world).

I'd bought more stuff at the dealer's room -- three card decks for the CheapAss Game "Brawl". These were cute cat-girl decks by Bryce Nakagawa, so I had to buy them. Had fun playing with Sky, Jeff, Julie, and Mike. (That would Be Julie's Mike). We didn't play tournament rules though, which is basically that there are no turns and you play cards as fast as you dare. We took turns.

And then... what did we do then? Dinner I guess. Oh yeah... some people went to the bar to get us seats. Up at our room, Mike (Gene's Mike) was watching AI. But it got so stupid at the end that when Julie called to see what was taking so long, we turned it off and left.

There wasn't enough room in the bar so Gene and Mike ate dinner in the lounge. In the bar we had Julie, Mike, Juli, Keith, Tom, Leanne, Sky, me, and Brom. We ate pizza. We drank a lot. I only drank coke. We were there for hours, and we kept waiting for our checks, and then people would order more drinks. We were there until after midnight I think, and we must have started at what -- six or seven? Brom had to leave to catch his ferry so he gave me money, but the checkes were messed up again and we felt we were being charged an extra drink. But the waitress put up with us for a long time anyway.

I'll let Sky and Julie talk about the nipple card thing.

And then... sleep.

Sunday... another Fanfic panel, this time at 10 am. One panelist was a professional author who liked and encouraged fan fiction and was also a librarian, so she was perfect for our panel (Will Fanzines Exist In The Future?). Fun stuff. They recorded us, and we outnumbered the audience.

After that... room checkout. Another run through the dealer's room (I bought a fourth Brawl card deck, and a hardcover book). Went to the art auction. Had a last dinner at the Diner just South of the hotel, and then I drove to Gene and Mike's house where we watched his anime dvd he'd bought (um... Kansomething?) and mine (Love Hina). Sky went home after 3 episodes, I stayed so we could see the 4th, then I came home.

That's about it.
