Sep. 21st, 2004 01:31 pmYou can go to gametableonline and actually play Kill Dr. Lucky online. You only get two weeks free, after that you have to pay. But it's kind of amazing that Kill Dr. Lucky is now a game you can play online with people in Hong Kong or Germany, don't you think?
Or you can go to Conifur this weekend and play Kill Dr. Lucky in the Sheraton Hotel. :D At least, I'm bringing the game to the Con.
I haven't played City of Heroes since I got my internet connection back. I spent the weekend watching movies (Waiting for Guffman, Haibane Renmei), reading manga (XXXHolic, Kare Kano). Actually I've been collecting Kare Kano for a long time, but as with some other series (Mars, Great Teacher Onizuka, Fushugi Yugi) I'd lost track of which manga I'd read up to, wasn't reading the new ones, and as new manga came in I was just stacking stuff everywhere and nothing was in order... so I spent part of the weekend organizing my bookshelves yet again, and now at least I have each series in order on my shelf, so I can decide to read from the begining to the end of a given series, which I've been doing with Kare Kano (11 volumes so far).
I also picked up the Japanese-language versions of Ah My Goddess vols. 26, 27, and 28. But I had 26 already. I'm sure I can find someone who'll be happy to take it off my hands...
And I assembled my dream mp3 disc of weird or cool song covers. Things like "I Put A Spell On You" covered by Natacha Atlas, or "Stairway To Heaven" by Tiny Tim and Brave Combo. This was a lot of work because I didn't have my internet connection and so I had to type in all the track titles for every cd that I needed to rip to my hard drive, and halfway through typing the program would always interrupt me with a dialog box about how it coudln't connect to the internet. Grrr. I made a huge list of all the songs I wanted, and when I went to assemble my cd I discovered a dozen more discs that weren't on my hard drive yet, and then when I tried to burn my cd I destroyed at least five 80 minute cds before coming to the conclusion that there simply was no way to make my version of CD Burning Rom deal with an 80 minute CD. But luckily I had some 74 minute ones, it was perfectly happy with those, and you can still fit a buttload of mp3's on a 74 minute CD. Everything I wanted to put on it, plus a lot of extra tracks from those groups who do full albumns of weird covers (Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Hayseed Dixie, Moog Cookbook, etc.)
So I listened to that at work last night, and I was happy.
Another thing I did by way of preparation for the con, I picked up some new art books and art supplies (like I'm going to draw or whatever). I got a new art book for myself, and two small ones to sell or give away or something, a few new pens, new pencils, then I dug up my old pens and pencils which as it turns out many of them actually are still good, and some new erasers, a small plastic thing to put some of my stuff in, I don't know what else.
