Because Hitler was a strong leader!

What can I say. I voted. But there are more stupid people in this nation than anyone can account for.

I picked up some anime on Sunday... Fruits Basket vol. 2, Here Is Greenwood, My Dear Marie. The last two are short series that I've been waiting to come to dvd forever.

I made a cd for the election. I was going to make one for Halloween too, but I didn't get around to it. But Monday night I got on the web and tried to track down the WMD Waltz which I'd heard on NPR... wasn't able to find that but I came across some other fun stuff by the same guy and downloaded George W's Word. Quite funny.

I also downloaded some other remixed Dubya speeches from another site. And then I threw in one of those screaming Howard Dean mixes that I still had, and a selection of songs that included:

When the Generals Talk -- Midnight Oil
The Election -- Ordained Fate
Cult of Personality -- Living Color
One Man One Vote -- Johnny Clegg & Savuka
Eve of Destruction -- Barry MacGuire
Race of Doom -- Devo
It's the End of the World as We Know It -- REM
New Year's Day -- U2
The Handshake -- Bad Religeon
Bulls On Parade -- Rage Against the Machine
Fortunate One -- Creedence Clearwater
War -- Edwin Starr
Big Guns -- Swirling Eddies
I'm Free -- Soup Dragons
Get Up Stand Up -- Bob Marley & The Wailers
Song of Choice -- Solas
Pretend That We're Dead -- L7
Demystification -- Lush

Later it occured to me while listening to this in my car that I should have added "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas at the very end, to try and put things in a little perspective. But right now I don't really feel like putting things in perspective.

When the Generals Talk -- Midnight Oil

Up there on the platform
He is speaking to the people
The people are responding
With clapping and a cheering
But the meaning of the message
Not revealed to those assembled
They're taken for a ride
Taken in his stride

When the generals talk
You'd better listen to him
When the generals talk
You'd better do what he say

The Election -- Ordained Fate

Let me be your leader
Let me be your liar
Let me be your President
Your resident gun for hire
I'll slander my opponents
Make promises I can't keep
You call me a political slut
But I won't lose no sleep
I want to live in Washington
And I'll do anything to win

I want to rule the world
I want the power
I want the upper hand
In man's final hour
By world domination
I will set you free
Utopia's a vote away
If you vote for me
I want to live in Washington
ANd I'll do anything to win

I'll sink to low degrees
To infiltrate your sympathies
I'll prey on your dreams and hopes
And in the end, I'll buy your vote
And if I do a real good job
You'll never figure out you're being robbed

Cult of Personality -- Living Color

I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your TV
I'm the Cult of Personality

I exploit you, still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
Like Joseph Stalin, Ghandi

You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You gave me power in your God's name
I'm every person you need to be

Neon Lights, Nobel Prize
The mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set me free

One Man One Vote -- Johnny Clegg & Savuka

The West is sleeping in a fragile freedom
Forgotten is the price that was paid
Ten thousand years of marching through a veil of tears
To break a few links in these chains
These things come to us by way of much pain
Don't let us slip back into the dark

New Year's Day -- U2

And so we are told this is the golden age
And gold is the reason for the wars we wage
Though I want to be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year's Day

The Handshake -- Bad Religeon

Now I believe in unity, and I am willing to compromise
But I'm not going to lie or sell my soul

This is the way of the modern world
Everyone's vying for patronage
This is the way of the modern world, and something's gotta give

Big Guns -- Swirling Eddies

Get ready to draw the rockets of peace
There's a showdown tonight on the bright milky way
Ambush the bad man, blow him right out of the East
We'll be singing yi-yippi-yi woopi-ki-yippi-ai-ay

Lock and load and spray on the armor-all
Wrap the wagon trains around the green suburban lawn
Wear the emperor's new clothes down to the destruction ball
Singing yippi-ki-yippi-yi, move the little doggies along

We could bring out the big guns tonight
And right all the wrong, that is right
We're gonna spill some blood
And shed some light
When we bring out the big guns tonight

And if I go down, I will take you with me
No you don't have to cross the Jordan all alone
Love and hate are here within me
And it scares me to think how angry I have grown...
