Went and saw the Incredibles. Brilliant. Highly reccomended.

I did very little else this weekend. Read some manga (Greenwood, His & Her Circumstances, Usagi Yojimbo). Watched some anime (Greenwood, Invader Zim). Finished a book (Anne Rule's Green River Running Red). Played some computer games (City of Heroes).

That was about it. Seriously.

I did decide late Sunday night to *finally* start in on my Two Towers boxed set. I mean, the Return of the King boxed set is due out soon, if it's not already out. I should at least watch the 2nd boxed set all the way through before picking up the third.

Well, the third makes a good Christmas present so I won't actually pick it up myself. It's hard enough to find things that I really want that I can easily ask my parents or sisters to get me for Christmas. I mean, I could ask for the latest Pratchett novel or some cd from one of the obscure bands that I like, but the chances of them finding either at any store in Longview are pretty remote. It's best if I ask for things you can find at Fred Meyers or Wal Mart. ^_^

So anyway... I can't just dive into the box set without at least watching the first movie again. I have two versions of each of the movies... or I will after I own all the box sets. I buy the shorter box office versions of the movies too, because they come out much earlier and becuase I like having the choice of watching the short or long version.

Such as tonight... I wanted to watch the first film because I hadn't seen it in a while and I was about to watch the long version of the Two Towers and I wanted to watch them all in order. But I decided to watch the short version so that I wouldn't be up all night.

"Short Version". That's a laugh. I forgot that it's still three hours long. I started at midnight and by 3 am it was over, but it was certainly too late to pop in the Two Towers, so that will wait for tomorrow night.

A Lord of the Rings Dilbert moment

At work I used to have a Lord of the Rings calender up on the wall. One day a year ago or so, the Vice President of Sales was near my desk and saw it. He said he'd just watched the Two Towers on dvd that weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm always surprised when people who I don't expect to be interested in science fiction or fantasy actually are fans of something in those genres that I like, and the LOtR movies are quite popular so a lot of people who are not fannish have seen them by now. Tim, another of our Vice Presidents, is actually a huge fan of the series. He's the type who gets the boxed sets and watches everything, and then agonizes because the next movie isn't (or wasn't at the time) out yet.

But our Vice President of Sales, he didn't strike me as that type of person, so I was surprised that he'd seen the film and liked it. My suspicions were confirmed a few moments later when he added, "There was only one thing about the movie that puzzled me... what were the Two Towers?"

Sigh.
