Friday evening I went over to Kristin & Ieva's house. (It's David's house too, but he wasn't there). Pandora House, in other words. Jeff and Jeri-Lynn were ther and we played two Cheapass Games that I'd never played before, The Big Idea and Captain Park's Imaginary Polar Expedition. Or something along those lines. Anyway it was a lot of fun. ^_^

Overnight I made some herb chicken and rice. It was one of those all-in-one frozen crock pot things where you basically dump everything in and let it cook for ten hours. It turned out pretty good, but then I left it on most of the day and it got burnt.

Saturday I was probably going to lay around and watch football games that I didn't care that much about and get nothing done, but Jeff and Jeri-Lynn wanted to go to CompUSA and Frye's so I went along. I even drove, woo. I got a pretty nice video card for Tom (his Christmas present/birthday present, just a little late). I also got a Moraff's Mahjongg computer game. There were two versions, one that came in a big box for $9.99, and one that came in a little box for $19.99. Apparently they were otherwise identical, so I got the one in the bigger box.

Back at my place we watched A Mighty Wind and the Hudsucker Proxy, and then after they left, I installed my new mahjongg game. First I played a game, then I changed the tileset, and then the background, and then I changed both of them again. Then I selected songs from my hard drive for a playlist. Their internal music player doesn't allow for shuffle play so it's technically inferior to something like Media Player, but it remembers my playlist and starts playing it as soon as I fire up the game so that's cool.

After that I designed a new tile set based on anime characters I liked. Then I played some games, and then I made another anime tile set. Then I played some more, and then I made anotehr anime tile set. And then it was 5:30 am.

I think there are other games besides the basic mahjongg layout, but I could keep myself entertained for hours just making new tile sets and playing basic mahjongg with them. ^_^

In other news, I feel I need to say something about the GURPs Victorian-era Steampunk role-playing game that Gene runs and many of my friends play, because people continue to act as if I'm part of the gaming group. They tell me what "my character" is up to or is going to be doing next. I just want to point out that while I'm glad other people are having fun with the game, I haven't attended a session in 6-9 months and I don't have any intention of ever doing so again. I liked the whole setup for the game and I liked my character, but when it came right down to it the actual game sessions were usually very boring for me. So I quit. I don't read the updates or journals, I really don't care what happens to Dr. Wilson because I don't intend to ever play him again, and while I realize that I see my friends less often because I don't show up for these game sessions, it never really felt like I was "seeing my friends" anyway because the only social interaction was to play the game. And it's not that I don't like hearing about what happened in the last game, but my level of interest is only slightly greater than, say, Keith or Jennifer or Matt, or anyone else in our circle of friends who is not a part of the Steampunk game subset. (Slightly greater because at least I understand what you're talking about ^_^). So you don't need to say "We missed you at the last game session," because you're going to miss me at EVERY game session from here on out.

Maybe I should have Gene kill Dr. Wilson off so that people would understand this better...
