Jul. 12th, 2005 02:35 amWoo. I'm smart and stuff.
I was going to link a story that I thought Kristin or others might be interested in... but it's from yesterday's Seattle Times so I can't find the link anymore. It was about a local blind man who travelled back to Norway recently.
Here's a different sort of article about how big farming in mmogs has become. It's a strange world out there.
I've been listening to my new cds. The new Audioslave is pretty good.
It's been a long time since I listened to Simple Minds Sparkle and Rain. That and New Gold Dream 81-82-83-84 (the albumn that came out just a year or two before Sparkle and Rain) are their two best cds in my opinion. Before those two, they had some pretty good stuff, but they really hit on all cylinders with those two releases. After that they had their fateful "big hit" in the song "Don't you (Forget About Me)" which was not one of their own songs. If I remember right, it was written for Billy Idol actually (er, I don't remember right -- according to allmusic it was written for Bryan Ferry), but when he couldn't do it they brought in Simple Minds and had them record the song. It was their first big hit, but the band members themselves really hated it because it was so commercial. Despite this, their next release "Once Upon A Time" was much more commercial in tone and spawned a few more hits for them, Alive And Kicking being the big one. I don't own Once Upon A Time on cd yet either, I guess I should get that next.
I listened to the Crosby Stills Nash cd. Really, there are only a few songs of theirs that I really like -- but those songs are some of my all-time favorites: Suite Judy Blue Eyes, Carry On/Questions, and Southern Cross. I need to make a cd of those three songs combined with other high harmony folk rock tunes, like California Dreaming, and some stuff by Simon & Garfunkel, and some of my favorite Indigo Girls tunes, and anything else I can think of that is similar in nature.
More silly stuff:
Some of these did not work well at all:
