Dec. 12th, 2005 10:28 pmChristmas gifts: I got a lot done Sunday, mostly wrapped and most of my list filled out (except for the relatives). I thought I was doing even better than that, but when I stopped at a small store on the way to work today, they didn't have the item that I had seen two months ago and had already purchased in my mind for one of my friends. Yikes! Time to go to plan B! And then I remembered something else that might mean that another gift that I'd ordered for another friend might not be such a great gift idea either. Hmm, there's a plan B for that as well, but then of course, I now have another "ungifted" gift. I have several of these... things that I bought mostly because I knew they'd make great gifts, but I haven't actually figured out who to give them to, or the people that might appreciate them most I've already taken care of.
But there's a Plan B for that as well! Part of this Plan B involves my work Christmas party, which includes a "White Elephant" style gift exchange where you just get a gift that works for any man or woman. That takes care of at least one of the "ungifted" gifts!
I had three things arrive in the mail today. Aces! Now I just need a couple more things to arrive, and I need to go buy a couple of things, and I'll be set! For Saturday at least, as far as gifts go anyway.
As far as the relatives go... my sister e-mailed me tonight about a conversation that we had that I'd completely forgotten about. My nephew wants a cd of his favorite songs. Hmmm, well I don't subscribe to a music download service, but maybe I need to. Anyway as it turns out most of what he wants on it are things that I own or can easily track down -- REM, Green Day, Ozzy Ozbourne, Pink Floyd, DC Talk. I don't actually own any Ozzy or Floyd on cd, or any DC Talk at all (Christian rock I might have, but not Christian rap). The Black Eyed Peas is one band that I'd heard about but have never listened to. Anyway, she said that I should "add anything else that I thought would fit with those songs". This is a problem, because when I was that age I was very specific about what I liked and didn't like (most kids are). I don't want to add a song to his special cds of songs that he likes, that he isn't going to like!
Well anyway, nothing's getting done until I install my new cd burner, and figure out where to download the songs I don't own already.
Christmas Ghost Story: Eh, I haven't worked on it lately. That's one of my top priorities for this week.
