I have a new daily calendar at work, and I can't help peeking ahead. Each day is something stupid that someone said. One of them is Martina Navratalova, who after losing to Monica Seles, said, "She beat me, and I'm no slouch potato!"

I really have no idea what a slouch potato is, but I'm fairly certain that I'm not one either.

Seven Things From The Day Tom Moved Out That Annoyed Me

These are mostly small annoyances.

1. Moving my car while I'm asleep so that he could back the truck up to the garage.

The thing that annoys me about this is one, he asked me after the fact (not that waking me up while I was trying to sleep would have been a better idea), and two, it's not as if my half of our parking area is any better situated for moving than his half, it's just that his half has a dead car sitting in it 100% of the time. So why is that my problem? This is not the first time (or the second, or the third) that I've been required to move my car to accomodate my roommate who feels perfectly entitled to plant a dead car in his own parking space for all of eternity. And let's not mention the angry tirades from the times he's been ticketed because his truck (parked behind his dead car) sticks out too far and blocks pedestrian sidewalk access.

Tom needs to move his car. Preferably by Dec 31st.

2. Packing tape being yanked off the roll all night long (from 10 pm to 10 am) to tape up boxes. It was very hard to sleep through this, because the sound that plastic packing tape makes as you yank it off the roll is very loud and piercing. No matter where he was in the house, it sounded like he was right outside my bedroom door the whole night. And let's not forget, this all-night boxing session is directly attributable to the fact that he didn't really accomplish much packing before yesterday.

3. All the people who were here to help him move being told to use my bathroom because his was cluttered. Of course, once I got in there to shower they had to use his anyway.

4. Washing and packing up all of his dishes, and then dirtying all of my dishes and leaving them piled in the sink. I really don't need to explain why this is annoying do I?

5. The fact that when he was "done" moving, there was still a ton of his crap in the apartment. Let's see... all of his guns, a giant tool table, a desk, a shelf on the desk, his stereo and dvd player, his bed frame, a closet full of junk including a lot of clothing still... and that's just what's still in his bedroom. Tom was mostly concerned about the heavy tools in the garage and all of his books... he seems to think that getting all of that out constitutes having actually moved out. Let's not forget that he didn't even touch the computer room, which contains two desks of his, all of his computer-related stuff, and a lot of other junk. Of course he doesn't want to move the computer, because it's his link to his e-mail and the internet. Never mind that in the two years he's been here since moving back from Hawaii he's never paid one single penny to me for the internet service (which I admit is my problem not his, I never made an issue of it).

6. Borrowing one of my plastic tubs. This isn't a big thing, but I have a bunch of plastic tubs ready for my own move. My mother suggested I get some, so I bought 5 or so at Fred Meyers, and then Mom bought me 5 for Christmas, and Dad also bought me 5.. so I have a lot of plastic tubs. Tom asked to borrow one... I said it was okay as long as I got it back within a week. It was no big thing really, but I'm glad he didn't ask to borrow more of them, because it just feels like I'm being taken advantage of in some way. Just because I'm not packing up yet doesn't mean I got these tubs for him to use.

7. The fact that after all of this, he hasn't even really moved out. I come home, his truck and car are still here, he's in the livingroom watching television, he has a sleeping bag on the floor in his room... makes me wonder when he actually plans to spend any time in his new apartment.

Well anyway I'm not really angry at him or anything, just some minor annoyances and I wanted to rant about them for a bit. ^_^

One thing I've been thinking of is whether I should think about listing those things I don't want -- such as the couches and the one matching recliner -- on Craig's List. You know, free to anyone who will come and get them. They're not the greatest couches in the world, I'd be happy if someone came and took them away before I moved. And there might be a few other things like that, perhaps the table in the dining area. Or Data and his girlfriend Queen Amidala.

I got my Gretchen cd in the mail yesterday, and took it to work. I like it, but after listening to it for a couple of hours I was getting tired of it. I pulled out my Abagail Washburn cd but there was nothing in the case. I looked through my cheap plastic bag full of cds (I tend to wind up dragging a bag of my most recent cds around) but there was no loose cd in it.

After I got home I went through the cds on the couch and stacked in a corner which were previously part of the collection I was toting around to work and back, and then I checked the car and the stack of cds on my computer desk. I looked in the cd player in the computer room and the bathroom. It wasn't anywhere to be found. I tried to think of where I might have put it -- mostly I've listened to it in the car or on my portable cd player at work, or might have had it out at my computer desk to rip to my hard drive. I also drug all of these cds down to my parent's house for Christmas but only listened to them in the car on the way down and back.

I was just about to write to my mother asking if she'd seen the disc around the house -- I didn't think my nieces or nephew had gotten into my cds at all, but I was grasping at straws -- when I remembered where else I'd listened to it. At work, in the cd drive of my computer. I almost never listen to cds at work that way, which is probably why I left it there after it was done playing and forgot about it completely. I'll have to check in the morning to be sure, but I think that's where it is.
