miko2Today's big plan evolved from 1) I should pay my energy bill soon, to 2) I need to finish cleaning and straightening up the living room and bedroom, to 3) I should get some nifty plastic containers from Fred Meyer's on the way home to help me do that!
I had in mind a cheap plastic 3-drawer system for extra clothing, but I couldn't decide if I really wanted one or not, so I passed for now. I also had in mind to get some more of the handy mid-sized totes that I have my Christmas stuff in. They're, I dunno, between 6 and 9 gallons maybe, big enough to hold a bit of stuff, but small enough that they don't get that heavy and you can toss them up onto a closet shelf. A few more of those would be very handy -- but Fred Meyers only had things much larger or much smaller than that.
My third plan was to get some smaller plastic totes to put small knick-knack thingys in, and maybe store on the left hand side of the entertainment center. The shelves on the left side of the entertainment center are problematic because they're deep but not all that tall, so it's hard to find stuff that you can fit in there that's easily accessible. Previously I had cassette tapes and video tapes stored there, but the ones at the back were completely buried, and I also had some records stored on the upper sheles but they had to be laid down flat and stacked on top of each other, which is not an ideal way to store records (or laserdiscs) if you want to be able to access them easily. So, I thought that some plastic bins that weren't too tall would be perfect for using that space to store things.
These, at least, I was able to buy. I bought four and will see how they work before deciding to buy any more. I also bought some stew supplies and tossed everything into the crock pot to cook overnight.
Then I sat down and forced myself to sort through the massive pile of unsorted paperwork that had been stacked on my computer desk at the old place. This allows me to find the most recent statements from my car loan and my Mastercard, both of which I need to pay. I still haven't found that mail that was in the livingroom just before I moved... that probably means I don't know where my boxes of checks are either, now that I think about it. I can't imagine how that stuff disappeared.
