Working For The Weekend... was a lame song by a lame group (Loverboy), fronted by a lame singer (Mike Reno, or whatever his lame-ass name was), who once tried desperately to buy the Porsche Spider show car (I think it was a 54... maybe a 55 or 56, I dunno) that Steve Terrien, whom I worked with, owned. (He kept saying, "Name your price! Don't you know who I am?") Despite that I think it was actually a number one song at some point, but that doesn't really concern me that much because you know what? It was never a number one hit on my birthday! So there!

It turns out that you can find out all of the number one hit songs (Billboard #1s in the USA) on any given date at this web site.

So... were any cool songs number one on my birthday? Mostly no. I don't want to post the entire list here so I'm going to cut about half of it out, and provide stupid comments:

2002 ... "Hot in Herre" by Nelly Yay, sexy rap music
1997 ... "I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112
1996 ... "How Do U Want It/ California Love" by 2Pac
1992 ... "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot I detect a strong rap theme, but if it comes to sexy rap music, gotta love the original from my hometown
1990 ... "Step by Step" by New Kids on the Block Oh joy
1989 ... "Good Thing" by Fine Young Cannibals I hated this group
1988 ... "The Flame" by Cheap Trick I had no idea Cheap Trick was still around by then
1985 ... "A View to a Kill" by Duran Duran finally a song I like ^_^
1984 ... "When Doves Cry" by Prince Something I like even better... well, one of Prince's best efforts anyway
1983 ... "Every Breath You Take" by The Police Ah, Sting's stalker song
1982 ... "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League I like this too... hmm can't tell when I young by the songs I like can you?
1981 ... "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes Also a good song
1980 ... "Coming Up (Live at Glasgow)" by Paul McCartney Again... Paul McCartney has a big hit as late as 1980?
1979 ... "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward Oh joy
1978 ... "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb
1977 ... "Undercover Angel" by Alan O'Day
1976 ... "Afternoon Delight" by The Starland Vocal Band I detect a lame/fluffy theme
1971 ... "It's Too Late/ I Feel the Earth Move" by Carole King Okay, this is a good song
1970 ... "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)" by Three Dog Night wow, a real rock song!
1969 ... "In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)" by Zager & Evans back on the lame/fluffy train
1967 ... "Windy" by The Association
1966 ... "Paperback Writer" by The Beatles
1965 ... "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones Okay, now we're talking! A classic rock song, #1 on my birthday!
1964 ... "I Get Around" by The Beach Boys
1963 ... "Easier Said than Done" by The Essex #1 the day I was born, apparently. I don't even know this song
1960 ... "Alley-Oop" by The Hollywood Argyles
1958 ... "Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley I detect a novelty song theme
1957 ... "Teddy Bear" by Elvis Presley
1955 ... "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets Bingo! Classic rock song #2!
1949 ... "Riders in the Sky (A Cowboy Legend)" by Vaughn Monroe
1948 ... "Woody Wood-Pecker" by Kay Kyser novelty song anyone?
1945 ... "Sentimental Journey" by Les Brown
1943 ... "Comin' In on a Wing and a Prayer" by The Song Spinners
1940 ... "The Woodpecker Song" by Glenn Miller Hmmm... another woodpecker song

Oh well, wasn't that fun?

Definitely in my book the best songs to ever be #1 on my birthday are Can't Get No Satisfaction and Rockin' Around The Clock. ^_^

In other news I tracked down the Sakura ending theme song "Fruits Candy". I already own a Card Captor Sakura Soundtrack, and figured this song would be on a volume 2. I checked Amazon, and they did indeed have a volume 1 and a volume 2, but I didn't see the song title I wanted on volume 2, so I checked Animenation. I struck out there so I did a search and found another anime place, Japanimation.com I think it was. In any case they also had volume 3... and volume 4. Yikes! I knew it was a long series, but I didn't realize there were that many soundtracks! Anyway the song I wanted was on volume 4 so I ordered that. ^_^ This is actually the first time I've ordered something since moving!
