What It Is

So I'm sitting in front of my computer in my room, and "Dark Side of the Moon" is playing on the radio. I'm creating my first journal entry, and wondering what I'm going to do today. Yesterday I tried to buy a bare-bones computer system from BCI, but their price kept going up (oh, the list price is wrong, price of memory has gone up. Oh, we don't have that motherboard, but I have another one for only $40.00 more). So I gave up for now. I have several things I need to buy -- a new mattress, for one. The one I have, I think I've had it since I was in grade school, and it's falling apart. Tires, for another. My car often feels like it's hydroplaning when it rains. I want to fix up Tom's old room into a computer/reading room, and for that I need a computer desk, a futon couch, another bookshelf or two... and a new computer. Which will it be this month? ^_^

Let's not forget that I missed my sister's birthday and haven't bought a wedding present for Jeff and Jeri-Lynn yet. I'm pathetic. But it's hard to shop at 3 am y'know....

What else I did yesterday... checked again for one of my stories to upload to a story site, they're really slow about those things. Checked some message boards. Read some stories online, started the fourth Harry Potter book too, I'm taking that one slow because I know it's the last one. Went to our Tai-Pan meeting, got some stuff back from Kristin and Sky, Sky returned 2 Feel So Bad cds and gave me more "Nerf" stickers that I don't know what I'll do with. Kristin lent me the latest Terry Pratchett novel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 1 on dvd... I lent her the two Revolutionary Girl Utena dvds (tv series not the movie) and also Soul Music on dvd, and one of the Akiko collected books, but I found out I haven't even let her read #3 or #4 yet and now I'm giving her #5... doh! One of the books I got back from Kristin I let Julie borrow.

I wore a tee shirt with Sky's koi design, which I bought off his cafepress store website... think I might be the only one to do that so far. It's pretty nice. I also bought one with the Nerf design he did for me.

Then I went home and read more stories online, and got a scene or three of Muyami Academy written. If only my friends knew how much I've written in the last several weeks... completed an old story, finished two large chapters on a massive story that is, at this point, more than twice as long as anything else I've ever written. And since it's an open-ended story, it's only going to keep growing. ^_^

But that still doesn't answer the question of what I'm going to do today. I really need to clean up the house... but I'll probably mess around with my journal settings, and watch Buffy.

We have a winner! And a loser!

The loser is the pathetic performance from livejournal this afternoon. If I get a paid account, will I actually be able to view pages more than 15% of the time? Sheesh. Took me all afternoon just to modify my page to something I like.

The winner is Keith, for being the first to find my page! Keith is currently the only person to acknowledge me as a friend... so sad.... ^_^

I cleaned dishes. Woo, that's my attempt at cleaning my apartment for this week I guess.

I went to the store, came home, and made tacos. Yum! Only I forgot to buy cheese or sour cream. Doh! So I went to the store again, in between Simpson's episodes.

Also... this part comes with a story... I spent a little money.

I live in a 3-bedroom triplex apartment, and for as long as I've lived here there have been really old, really really old pots and pans and stuff for the kitchen. A lot of it was here when I moved in, which was like 15 years ago or something. I've always had roommates, and occasionally they'd buy something or my mom would give me something, but for the most part I've used what was always here.

One time, my mother had a full set of new pots and pans from my grandmother's house (after she went to the nursing home). She was going to give them to me, but had them in storage because I guess she wanted to wait until I didn't have roommates (who might do anything to ruin them, who knows?). But my sister finally got tired of waiting and took them herself.

So anyway a month or so ago the thought finally popped into my head to go and buy a REAL pan. I got a nice aluminum 12" sautee pan. It was so much nicer than anything else in the house! A few weeks later I got a 10" one that matched. I was going to get a smaller one, but they only came in the big deluxe pot and pan sets.

So tonight, since I didn't buy that computer yesterday, I decided to go for the whole shebang. Actually, they had a 10 piece set and a 7 piece set (1 pan, 3 pots, 3 lids... 7 pieces. Go figure). The 10 piece had the smaller pan, but I decided the 9.5" one in the 7 piece was good enough, no real need for a smaller one, and the 10 piece also had the monster pot but that happens to be one good thing I already own, a giant pot for massive stews or whatever. So I went for the 7 piece for $50.00, and everything matches with my other two pans. Inconcievable! Nice aluminum non-stick pots and pans, glass lids, fairly nice. MUCH nicer than the old stuff, which I am throwing out right now -- it's not even worth giving to Good Will.
