More music musings

I'm realling liking the Bluegrass collection. Much better than the two discs I bought the other day, which are aimed more at long-time bluegrass fans, I think. Y'know, all their favorite old songs, but new performances, by well-known musicians. The Time-Life collection is much more of a retrospective of the entire genre, a collection of the highlights and signature songs from the best-known or most important artists... it's a much more varied and interesting collection. Anyway, I like the older stuff much better, it has more soul.

So... Tempest is in Ballard on Sunday. Are we gaming on Sunday?

If so, Tempest is also in Bellingham on Saturday. Assuming there's no snow, I might want to go see them t here.

Writing, writing

I've been staying up late to make sure I get something written on my story every day. Last night I sat down to just write a few sentences or half a scene, and when I was done I'd pieced together most of 3 scenes. Chapter 13 is nearly done. ^_^

Someone else wrote to me yesterday asking me questions about fan fiction writing. He wanted to know how to write comedy, which is hard to explain. I think mostly it's just practice, reading funny authors, and learning to write and critique writing. Also learning comic pacing from other sources, shows or whatever.

Then he wanted to know how to focus on one story when he kept getting ideas for other stories that he wanted to write. I told him I wasn't the best person to ask that question. ^_^;

He also wanted to know how to find time to write. This is another question probably best directed at someone else, but I've been doing pretty good the last couple of months at getting something accomplished every day or so. I find that writing is addictive... the more I write, the easier it is to sit down and write, whereas if I don't write for a while, I don't feel like writing and have a hard time writing when I first sit down to do it.
