No news on my car. I'm driving my landlord's Honda for the moment. It's old and doesn't handle well, but I'm grateful to have something to drive for the moment. Although my insurance will cover $25 a day rental if I so choose.

Not getting a lot of writing done. I finished off Escaflowne tonight, and after watching all of Maze earlier in the week I'm in a mood for more "travel to a fantasy world" stories, and was thinking that I should own Fushugi Yugi on dvd, if it's actually available on dvd. Plus I just read volumes 5 6 and 7 of the Fushugi Yugi graphic novels, and I want to know what comes next.

Now that I have Spiderman on dvd, I realize that I have a small but growing collection of very good superhero-themed movies on dvd. The others right now are X-Men and Mystery Men, but I was trying to decide what else should be in my collection. Most likely the first Batman film, but perhaps one or more of the Superman films. The two important factors are that it must be a film about super heros, and that it can't suck. That rules out a lot of the older material. Unbreakable would be a good addition, that's a cool film. I watched X-Men again tonight. It's still cool, and I wonder if/when they'll do a sequel and if they will screw that one up.

I was thinking yesterday that I should start a punk group. Our first song would be called "Tim Eyman is a Fucking Moron". Or something like that. Although on second thought I should just have a petition put on the ballot: I-945 - Shall the people of Washington state call Tim Eyman a pinhead? It would pass. I'd have bipartisan support, and the backing of the govener. Well anyway, yay I get to pay $30.00 tabs, plus another $140.00 or whatever to pay for the new Monorail. Just as long as they don't build it anywhere near the Alaska Way Viaduct, which is going to fall down sooner or later. I saw one poll that showed that 11% of people voting for Eyman's I-776 were influenced by his involvement in it, while 45% of the people voting against it were influenced by his involvement.

Not that I'd necessarily wish violence on anyone, but it really is too bad that all those innocent people got killed my Malvo and Mohammed, and Tim Eyman was never even considered as a target.

But I'm just blabbering. Really, the only people that I dream about beating up are the annonymous people that stole my car. I alternate between hoping that my car returns to me unharmed, and hoping that the morons who stole it flip it over in a high speed chase and roll about 25 or 50 times. I guess the best scenario would be that they don't damage the car, but break their legs trying to leap off the interstate to get away from the police. Or something.

I had similar thoughts about whoever broke into my car five or six years ago and made off with about 75 cds that I was stupid enough to leave in there. I don't know if thinking violent thoughts about some unknown person is a bad thing or if it helps you deal with your problems. Of course, I imagine hitting jerks at work with a baseball bat on occasion, but I'm fairly certain that this is okay as long as I don't actually do it in a real, literal, bone-breaking, getting arrested for assault and battery sense.

Or maybe that's why I watched X-Men tonight? Because, you know, everyone wants to be Wolerine at some point in their lives, don't they?

What's interesting to me is that I can nurture a story like Otherworld Blues in my head for something like ten years, and have fairly extensive notes on the world, the people involved, and a great deal of the plot, and have it all in my head exactly how the first few chapters should go -- and then when I finally sit down to write it, several glaring errors become self-evident. Like, my main character isn't very interesting... and I don't introduce any other interesting characters for a long time. And I've inserted another character that is almost non-existant, largely because I've never bothered to figure out anything interesting about them. You know, stories like Fushugi Yugi, Escaflowne, Maze, all these great fantasy stories, heck even Chuck's Felicia story, you have a band of adventurers off on a quest, and each character is different and interesting in their own way, and there are heros that can do amazing things, and they confront impossible odds and overcome them... well I'm trying to write the same kind of story but I haven't really thought about adding interesting characters, or what impossible odds they might face, and aside from the major major villians, most of whom aren't featured in the story until we get deeper into the plot, I really haven't fleshed out the other villians at all. And having good villians is, like, important and stuff.

Maybe I should make Tim Eyman a villian in my story. Except I'd have to try to make him human, so you could understand where he's coming from. That would be difficult to do.

Anyway I should go to sleep. Tomorrow's another day. Without a car.
