...was a nice day. I managed to get up and get my act together early enough to do a couple of the errands that I didn't do Saturday.
Tom and I drove down to Fun-Key Computers in Tukwila where I picked up a Maxtor 120 gig hard drive for about $109.00. I've been meaning to get a large hard drive for a while. My plan, or one of many, is to convert as much of my music collection as possible to mp3, and I've already filled a big chunk of my 40 gig drive and have not backed up those files anywhere yet. Ideally I should have 2 120 gig drives and keep a duplicate backup of all my music files that way -- alternatively I could get a dvd burner to back up, but I'm bad at backing up in that fashion. Currently my way of backing up all of my files is just to keep duplicate copies on more than one hard drive. It's lazy but it works.
After this we travelled to Wonderland Books in Burien, where Tom took the full hour left before the store closed plus about ten minutes extra. I was standing around a long time after I'd finished shopping and paid for my purchases, and even as they were following Tom to the door to lock up, he had to stop to pick up a magic eight ball and say something about it. I was waiting outside by that point, but it made me laugh -- anyone else could see that they just wanted to close up and go home.
I picked up a softcover edition of "The Complete Little Nemo" vol 2, and a hardcover edition of vol 4. That's all they had. It's out of print now so I'll have to be dilligent about tracking down the other volumes. Picked up the first new Battle Angel Alita graphic novel in a while -- as usual, they're issuing it in a different size from the others. Picked up the hardcover of Promethea vol. 4 -- and I'm not certain where my vol. 3 is at the moment, it's not on the shelf. Maybe I lent it out and don't remember.
Lastly, I picked up Rod Espinoza's Neotopia 4 and 5. Rod Espinoza is the only really talented person to work for Antarctic Press; his fantasy stories match Bone and Usagi Yojimbo and especially Akiko for light-hearted fun and lovely visuals. I have vol 1 and 2 of his Courageous Princess, not sure if there's more because the story didn't end there -- and I had wanted to buy copies for some friends but this is Antarctic Press and their stuff goes out of print fast because they're so small. At least, the good stuff does. ^_^
The good news is that they're releasing a hardcover edition containing all of the Courageous Princess story. So they're not as stupid as I thought. But I feel as if I should buy several copies, because they'd make good presents for kids and will probably be out of print fast, again.
In the meantime, when I was at Wonderworld last I picked up his new fantasy story, Neotopia #1. Last week my comic dealer handed me the newest Neotopia, which turned out to be vol 2 #1. I had intended to grab the issues of this story as it came out, but I've missed several issues. At Wonderworld I found 4 and 5 of volume 1, but not 2 or 3. D'oh! I'd better locate those quick, or hope that Antarctic knows enough to collect this series too.
And btw, Neotopia vol 2 is being printed in a larger size than vol 1. Why? Just to annoy people, I guess.
Tom bought various gaming module things, and Crest of the Stars dvd 4. I have the first three, but Tom's more into the series than I am, and couldn't wait for me to buy #4. I have other things I want to buy... was looking at their boxed set of You're Under Arrest tv series 1, but I spent enough money yesterday already. ^_^
We ate at Kiku's on the way home. Yum!
