Oct. 24th, 2003 01:01 pmSo I stopped at the comic shop yesterday, and as I'd expected there was a lot of stuff that had come in in the last two weeks -- four manga volumes (Fushugi Yugi, Ceres Celestial Legend, Ranma 1/2, and Utena). There were two dvds -- Inu Yasha and His & Her Circumstances.
On top of all this was the boxed set for the first season of You're Under Arrest. I've been wanting to get this for a while, and since it's done by AnimEigo, which is the stupidest american anime studio around, you can't find it as easily as everything else. I'd seen it once or twice, but buying an $80 boxed set is not something I generally do on the spur of the moment, even if I knew it was the best way to pick up these dvds.
So I asked Gabriel to order it for me. Now, Gabriel is pretty cool about these kind of things. He doesn't care if I don't buy everything right away... so I could have left the boxed set for later. But I just got paid, and I wanted to see it. So I went ahead and picked up everything... I just have to consider it my big expense for this paycheck and not run out and buy a bunch or cds or whatever.
Anyway it would have been nice to get off early and go home and watch some of my new dvds, but unfortunately the computers weren't working until 10 pm, so I was at work until nearly 2 am, and only got to watch a little bit of my anime. I'll have to wait until tonight to watch more.
I'd forgotten that it's the opening theme song for You're Under Arrest that contains the lyrics Sky used to always make fun of... "Even dull dingy shoes will shine again". But I like another part of the lyrics, "Eyes are prisms that catch the wind". Because, you know, that's what prisms do... they refract wind....
Luckily this song is only used for the first few episodes that were really ova's made before the television series came out... the tv episodes have different songs.
On the flip side, I finally get to see Aoi and Strikeman animated. ^_^
