I went to Archie McPhee's yesterday. Interesting place. Now I have a catalog even, which they only print once a year.
What they have a lot of at that place are cheap plastic charms and tiny knick-knacks. The sort of stuff, actually, that makes for good markers/figures/game pieces for Cheapass games like Kill Dr. Lucky. I picked up:
1. 4 metal knights. These are pewter I think, very good figurines. A medieval knight, a Roman or Greek sort of soldier, a gladiator type of knight, and some weird knight from a non-Western culture I think, although I really couldn't tell from where.
2. A blue coctail monkey. I expect everyone will want to be the coctail monkey at our next game. ^_^
3. A tiny model of a tube of Colgate toothpaste.
4. A head with jiggly eyes that looks like Bert from Sesame Street.
5. A plastic gavel... in case you wanted to represent the Judiciary branch of government as you stalked Dr. Lucky. I guess.
6. A tiny model of a can of Dr. Pepper. Who wouldn't want to play a Dr. Pepper can?
7. A small bottle with a rubber stopper. I don't know what to put in it yet. Maybe colorful sand. But it's just about the size of a game piece so it's really tiny.
8. Some kind of purple plastic soldier.
9. Some kind of space suited guy who looks like he's carrying a Bible, or something.
10. A little plastic princess in a white ball gown.
So now I have far more game pieces in my gaming box than I could ever possibly need... but most of these were 25 cents or less. The metal knights were only 50 cents.
Anyway... I finished "The Wishing Horse of Oz" last night. I wrote more on one of my stories. I spent two hours or more this morning following and posting to a thread on Toontowncentral that got very out of hand... I'm surprised it hasn't been banned yet. And Tom's gone today so I don't know what I'm going to do... goof off some more I suppose.
