I didn't go to the Steampunk game yesterday. I just didn't feel like going. Aside from the fact that my tooth has been hurting all week, and I hadn't had a day to myself in a couple of weeks, I just find myself feeling ambivalent about the game most of the time. I used to love role-playing games... I remember when a friend in High School sold his AD&D books becuase he "wasn't going to play RPGs in college" I absolutely couldn't understand him or his decision. I thought I'd always be playing some sort of role-playing game... and for the most part, I have.

But I don't know, it just isn't that exciting to me anymore. Part of it is that our group is too big and the game sessions are too long... so that by necessity you're crowded into a corner and spend large parts of the game listening to what's happening to other people... but even aside from that, I just don't think I enjoy RPGs nearly as much as I used to. Often during a game session I wish I were somewhere else doing something else. And starting at 1 pm probably isn't an early starting time, it's just that I normally wake up around noon so for me it's going someplace a few hours earlier than I normally do... and after a long week at work I really didn't want to go anywhere or do anything on Saturday.

So I stayed home. I played some Toontown. I watched the Huskies on television. I went and got my car's oil changed, something that I'd been meaning to do for a couple of months at least. I read a book. I watched more tv, did some laundry, and web-surfed... did some web shopping and bought a couple of things. Failed to make a dentist appointment because they're not open on the weekend, I'll have to do that Monday morning.

I heard the game was really fun, but you know what? I don't care. I had a good day staying at home.

I want to say that I should just quit the Steampunk game and never attend again, but I don't know. It's not that I hate it or anything, I'm just generally ambivalent about it.

Well anyway I went searching for Far Side cartoons on the web and found this web site, which contains "real life" remakes of Far Side cartoons. It's a "you must register" site so I was only able to view page 4 and 5, but those pages contained some pretty funny photoshop stuff. And the cool thing is that in this case it doesn't even have to be good photoshop work to be funny.
