Dec. 14th, 2004 02:19 pmI bought another gift today, and several that I'd ordered arrived yesterday. I believe I have about six people to buy for still, and two of them are Charles and Katie who will probably be easy to buy for. ^_^
On the other paw, I'm really only concentrating on gifts for friends with the target date of this weekend's party. For my family, I've only bought one gift, and haven't even talked to my mom yet about ideas for others, although I *do* have a few specific ideas for some of them. In the recent past we've done a name shuffle thing between the adults so that you only had to buy for one adult and then the kids, but this year with my mom's trip to Thailand I didn't hear any such plans, which means I'm probably shopping for both parents, both sisters, and both brothers-in-law, as well as four kids.
But I guess I'll worry about that later in the week, or after Saturday.
Two of the books that I ordered probably won't arrive on time. We'll see. I ordered them from Amazon, and I ordered them *directly* from Amazon rather than another store through the Amazon site... and right after doing so I realized the same thing that I realized last year: Amazon is very slow to ship a lot of things. They said they wouldn't even ship the books until the 21st. Well, that wasn't good enough, so I cancelled both orders and re-ordered them from people who promised to ship in 1-2 days.
Unfortunately I didn't ask for expedited shipping, and at least one of the booksellers told me to expect 2-4 weeks shipping time. They're shipping UPS 3rd class, and no, it's too late to change that. But I still have hope. Most of the stuff I order from Amazon ships UPS 3rd class and gets here in a reasonable amount of time. I know this is the worst time of year to expect quick service from them, but we'll just wait and see. If they don't arrive in time, oh well. ^_^
Speaking of shipping, yesterday I shipped several skids of "Zen Consol and Zen Mirror". I'm not sure what a Zen Mirror is, but I want to ask, if a Zen Mirror breaks in the woods and nobody is around, does anyone recieve seven years of bad luck? Or maybe I should ask, what is the sound of a Zen Mirror reflecting?
I'm also amused by interesting names that we ship to. So last week we shipped to Mimi Malgarini. That's just a fun name to say. We also shipped to Tracy Lost Bear. I like names that are interesting or unusual, or tell you a bit about the person. ^_^
Over the weekend I watched Galaxy Quest (Tom has a copy) again. Very very funny movie, it makes me laugh every time I see it.
And I reached level 38 in City of Heroes. Aren't you impressed?
