...and it's amazing how empty my old place at Club Chaos is, and yet how much junk that I don't want remains.
Kristin and Charles came by at 1 pm Saturday. We loaded up their van and drove down to my new place in Auburn. It's a very long drive. We unloaded the van and then drove up to Ikea, where Valentine was very helpful in navigating us through the store quickly. We picked up a very large shelf for Gene and Mike, and a large entertainment center/television stand thingy for Kristin and David. Since I was there and we had the van and I had a credit card, I picked up the two Beano tall thin cd shelved that I knew would fit perfectly in the gap between my two closets in the new bedroom.
After that we drove to Kristin & David & Ieva's house and unloaded their box, then went over to the editorial board meeting. Afterwards Kristin came back to my place and we spent two hours or so boxing stuff up and loading up her van.
So my plan for Saturday had been to spend all day boxing stuff up, and that didn't happen, but I got a lot of help from Kristin. In retrospect I wouldn't have been able to do it all myself anyway.
Sunday was all day moving day. Kristin and David (and Valentine) dropped by at 8 am to get my key, and took their load to the new place while I started boxing. Jeff came over and started boxing, Kristin and David came back and started boxing. I had a lot of crap left to box, no two ways about it. We took a van load and cruiser load down to the new place, and then Jeff and I drove back up and went to get the U-Haul, which it turned out they had told me not until two, and then cancelled my order because I wasn't there at twelve. Go figure. But they gave us a 17 footer and that was good, it was just what we needed.
It was pouring down rain most of the day, and not fun at all to move my couch and entertainment center and my bed, but eventually everything got into the new place. I'm at the old place right now, I have the computer sitting on the floor and the keyboard in my lap. Jeff and Tom just walked through the door, and it's time to return the U-Haul.
This could be my last post for a while, I don't know when Comcast will transfer my service, but I'm going to leave the computer and modem and everything here until Tuesday. ^_^
Addendum: Truck has been returned. I forgot to add, Jeff drove the truck, thank you thank you, David "Master Loader" was in charge, and Kristin was left at my apartment from 2pm to 8pm (we took longer than we expected) during which she moved a lot of boxes around, unpacked things, set shelves up, put together my two new Ikea shelves, and put some of my towels through the laundry. ^_^
