The Comcast guy came and installed internet service for me, right on time. I have an internet connection again!

Things are progressing well, I suppose. My next goal for the day is to go out and find a ladder, and maybe a bookshelf or something to put my stereo equipment on.

My phone did not work until Friday morning because of a problem (they forgot to put the apartment number on the install order the first time. I knew it was working when it rang and woke me up at 9 am. It was a solicitor, of course. I got another one 20 minutes later after I drifted off to sleep again.

Time to place my new phone number on the do not call list!

I picked up Firefly this week and I've been laying on my couch watching episodes, roughly 1 episode in the evening and one in the morning. Today I watched the one about the Captain's bride.

The place looks better but I still have a lot of boxes to sort out. I've kinda slowed down in doing that, once I got to where I could cook in the kitchen, lie down on the couch to watch television, play games on the computer, etc. All of my cds and manga are on shelves, and a lot of my books, so I'm getting down to things that aren't as easily put away.

After checking in with my apartment manager and learning that A) I didn't have any mail yet B) No, they still didn't have a working mailbox key made for me, and C) No, they also didn't have a key for the storage room ("we have to replace the lock" -- they've been saying this to me for two weeks now), I went for a drive.

I drove up Auburn Highway, or whatever it's called. I think it's basically the East Valley Highway, because it runs all the way North just like the West Valley Highway does. Earlier I'd checked out Ikea and Home Depot on the web and had decided that Home Depot was the best place to find a cheap ladder to use for my bed. I had failed to check on where Home Depot might be located in my area, but I just assumed that if I followed the road North I'd eventually come across one, or something like it.

I passed at least four Les Schwab tire centers on my meandering path North into Kent. I drove past Ikea and over to Southcenter, on the theory that surely there was a Home Depot there. I finally came across it after deciding that it didn't exist and turning about to head back - as it turns out, you really can't see it coming from the East, but going back West I saw it easily.

A nice 6' fiberglass and aluminum ladder (which is all I really need) was $19.99. It's not pretty, but it should work just fine. ^_^ After that I decided to forego shopping at Ikea (I don't need more shelving at this point, I just want it eventually) and I headed home. I also avoided getting the $49.99 microwave oven at Home Depot for the same reason -- I want one eventually, but it's hardly a pressing need.

That was about it for my big day. Oh, and I placed my new phone on the national do not call list. ^_^
