Not much to say or time to say it. It's cold, it's supposed to maybe possibly snow again tonight. We didn't deliver to some places yesterday and we didn't have everyone there at work, but it was an easy commute for me, no snow on the hill, and my only worry today is whether there will be snow on the hill when I come back home.
While trying to find a cd last night I actually decided to organize my folk music section of my music collection. I now have them roughly in order (all the ones that start with D (for example) are in the same general area, but not alphabetized any further than that -- much like my much larger rock section is currently organized). I'm thinking if I stay here three more years I might actually manage to have my entire collection in alphabetical order. ^_^
I've been in an alt country/bluegrass mood for many weeks now. I go through moods where for months I'll collect a certain type of music -- last Spring and Summer it was mostly goth metal such as Nightwish, Leaves' Eyes, Within Temptation, and also a lot of folk metal like Korpiklaani, Orphan Land, Skyforger, Rudra.
Lately I've been listening to Crooked Still, The Be Good Tanyas, Dixie Chicks, The Duhks, Gillian Welch, Abigail Washburn, Split Lip Rayfield, The Meat Purveyors, Freakwater, pretty much anything I owned that qualified as country or bluegrass or alt-country or americana or country-blues. This lead to me trying to find a certain cd last night. I can't find it, I didn't even remember the name exactly, but I remembered that it had a cover of "Hard Times (Come Again No More)" by Willie Nelson on it (a very brilliant cover btw), and with some web research I came up with the title: Heritage. It's a brilliant collection of Americana and apparently I don't own it anymore, so I'll need to buy it again.
Problem being, I can't spend money on myself until after Christmas, for obvious reasons. So for now I'm taking the cds I want to buy and putting them on my Amazon cart but in a "saved to buy later" mode. Which is a mode I abuse, I put things there that I still haven't bought 2 years later, and I have 4-5 pages of stuff saved there (I also use my wish list to keep track of anything else I might be interested in buying someday). Among the other cds I've placed on that list: a cd by Allison Krause and Union Station (I don't own any of her stuff), a cd by Gillian Welch (I only own one of hers so far), a cd by Neko Case (don't own any of her stuff yet), and a cd by The Sadies (a Canadian band that plays a sort of country surf rock).
I was bad and actually ordered a cd by the Wailing Jennys last week. For myself, I mean -- I ordered quite a few other things for presents. :p
