Jan. 9th, 2007 11:47 amI finally installed City of Villians Sunday night, and stayed up late trying it out. I didn't go to bed until 3 am. Which was bad because I'd been warned that Monday morning they were going to finally remove the tree that's been leaning against our apartment since the big storm. It's right outside my bedroom window, and the chainsaws started buzzing around 9 am.
It's funny but when power was out after the storm people were desperate for any kind of firewood they could find -- all of the apartment here have fireplaces. But it's been 24 hours since they cut the tree down, and they cut it into nice firewood-length sections, and almost all of it is still lying there. I grabbed a few pieces last night and might grab a couple more. It's green, of course, but I don't have to use it now, or I can start a fire first with the wood I bought at Fred Meyers and then place one of these logs on top or in the back. Anyway, it's free wood right outside my sliding glass door.
Anyway people keep telling me there's a big snowstorm coming. It might be nice to have a fire going tomorrow night.
I tried to watch... um... a British holiday movie of some sort based on a book from one of my favorite authors, dunno where that came from really, it just sort of appeared in my possession this weekend... anyway, I was quite disappointed because my dvd player will only play the first 15 minutes or so and then the video starts to artifact and everything freezes up. No problem, I thought, I can watch it on the laptop... only for some reason PowerDVD won't play it either... it plays the soundtrack portion fine, but all I get for a picture is a blank, black screen. Grrr.
I'm sure there's another program that will play it on one of my computers, but I didn't bother trying to solve the problem last night.
