Feb. 3rd, 2007 09:44 amI've occasionally lent music to S at work. She likes metal so I lent her some of my oddball folk metal. She listened and gave it back, saying she liked it a lot. But I always wondered, if she liked it that much, why did she give it right back and never think about it again?
However, she's not been afraid to tell me when she disliked something. She really disliked The Darkness. She didn't like Lunatica all that much -- liked parts of it, didn't like parts of it. Lunatica is for me the latest of those goth metal bands that I started getting into last year. I like 'em. ^_^
S is a big fan of Evanescence and owns several of their cds, which is why I thought she'd like some of my goth metal. She really liked Nightwish a lot, and Within Temptation too. In fact, she was playing them for other people and gushing about how much she liked them. So this is what happens when she really does like something I lend to her, I thought. Even though she gave the cds right back after listening to them for a couple of hours.
Last night I gave her Lacuna Coil to listen to. Lacuna Coil is an Italian goth rock/metal band that leans more to pop than metal... IE closer to Evanescence than any of the other bands I've given her to listen to. And, for the first time, S asked if she could keep the cd and bring it back... on Monday in this case, since it was Friday.
I guess I finally lent her something that she really liked! I'm happy for that... but it also seems that she's attracted to simpler, pop-oriented music more than anything else, which means there's only so much that I listen to that she would really like.
