Feb. 15th, 2007 09:50 pmWell the whole work intrigue thing poofed Wednesday when, 15 minutes after I showed up at 10:30 am (two hours early) my coworker who wasn't expected to be there walked in. I still don't know why he was gone but apparently it got cleared up more quickly than expected, and everything is back to normal.
...Apart from all of the people that are sick. Our new rate clerk went home sick today. :p
Today's project was chili, in honor of Chili Day (Chilicothe Day... in which we get lots of freight consolidated for Kenworth in Chilicothe). I bought stew beef and a turkey kielbasa and put them in the crock pot last night, and today I added diced peppers (bell, serrano, jalapeno), onion, celery, diced stewed tomatoes, and three types of beans (black, pinto, kidney).
I sort of realized part way through the process that I didn't have my chii recipe handy and hadn't bought a couple of things I could have used. Normally I start with a nice thick beer, like a Guinness, but I'd forgotten to buy that. Typically I'd also throw in a packet of chili seasonings but had forgotten that as well, which was okay, I just added the type of things you usually want in chili, such as cumin, garlic, etc. It turned out okay, but I had more garlic than some people at work like, and it was spicier than I'd intended. I seeded the jalapeno's but I guess two of them was too much. ^_^
My car's engine light came on today while I was driving to work. About a thousand coworkers tried to tell me it was just the gas cap, but that doesn't seem to be it. The engine has been emmitting a funny smell for several months, which may or may not be related to the fan belt slipping a lot. In general it runs fine but I've been thinking it could use a tuneup for a while now, so this inspired me to set up an appointment with the local Chrysler dealership for tomorrow afternoon.
