Yesterday I made a list of things to do this week. Along with finishing shopping, continuing to write, and getting my exercise every day, I have presents to wrap, Christmas decorations still to do, and friends coming over on Sunday which means I want to clean the place up a bit. One of the other things on my list to do has been to get my oil changed, and as I pulled in to my parking lot last night (tight turn) the oil light flashed briefly, so I knew I was low. I decided to get that done that night.

But first, I entered my apartment and immediately began to clean off the kitchen countertop. I tend to throw mail there and stuff to file and then more stuff, and it's only been cleaned off completely a few times since I moved in. It's a big project. But I managed to get it clean (still have a couple of piles of stuff that needs to be filed though). Then, since I had a nice clean flat surface to work with, I got out my wrapping paper and wrapped about 6 presents. I also did a load of laundry.

Then I grabbed my laptop and drove down to Jiffy Lube. I got an oil change, filter, new wipers, topped off the antifreeze... it was $100.00 but it needed to be done. I got some writing done on Girl's School -- except I didn't. I'd made some minor changes to my document at work, and they didn't save. Then after writing a few paragraphs at Jiffy Lube, I got home and they hadn't saved either. I don't know why, I think in both cases I saved quickly and shut down, but... anyway, a bit distressing except that, the way my mind works when I write, I had no trouble reconstructing everything I'd written. I kind of write scenes in my mind before committing them to paper and sometimes they remain in my mind for a day or more... if I scribble things down and then later transfer them to the word processor, I find that I only have to glance at what I scribbled and then I can just write the scene again without a second glance.

So... I did get some writing done, eventually. I did my exercise and then wrote from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, roughly. I logged into SL for about an hour, said hi to two friends. And I felt like I accomplished quite a bit. I just need to keep working on stuff each night and by Saturday I'll be in good shape.

My coworker has a Christmas party on Saturday, I guess I'm going to that. I also need to draw some stuff for the APA, deadline by end of month (I should post a reminder), and my plan this time is to draw pictures of characters from my anime fan fiction story... there are a lot of original characters in there, it'd be nice to get illustrations of them done, and that would get 2 goals accomplished at once.

I've pretty much figured out that I can't concentrate on writing, play Second Life, and play City of Heroes at the same time. Right now I've been writing part of the time and logging in to SL part of the time... so I haven't played CoH at all, even though there's a new issue out with all sorts of cool new stuff to try.
