Jan. 13th, 2009 08:40 amI'm still trying to figure out how my iPod does things.
Videos: I uploaded a bunch of music videos to iTunes and synced them to my iPod. I uploaded them as "movies" because that's the only place I could figure out to put them. However, my iPod has a location for music videos. iTunes has a music video folder down with the music folders, but when I try to upload an mp4 music video there, it still goes to the movies tab. I'm not sure if that means only videos I buy from the iTunes store will actually show up in the music video folder, or what (I haven't bought any videos yet).
Otherwise these seem to work fine -- I can watch them, and they remain there for me to watch again.
With the R.O.D. ova episodes I downloaded, these shows up as television episodes since that's what the iTunes store calls them. When I sync'd these I specifically told the iPod to sync those three episodes, rather than let it sync "all television shows". I thought that would allow me to keep them on the iPod, but after watching episode 1 last night, I noticed that today it's missing from my iPod, as if it were a podcast or something. I just noticed this at work so I'll have to investigate when I get home... I'd like to keep this and a few other videos on my iPod to watch again.
I have a lot of podcasts from one and a half years ago. I listened to all of the old "song of the day" podcasts (I'm subscribed to three of them) and then they downloaded the most recent versions of those podcasts. Likewise, I listened to 16 episodes of To The Best of Our Knowledge, and then it started downloading current releases of that show. (Their podcasts are generally not the entire show, but only one segment or one portion of it -- one of the reasons I had stopped listening to them before, it's kind of annoying).
Anyway yesterday I listened to nearly every podcast I had of "NPR's Most E-mailed Stories". I thought this would cause it to start downloading current episodes of that podcast. Instead, today I have a whole bunch more podcasts from July 2007. Hmmm. The things they put in this podcast are almost always the kind of reports that are still just as interesting to hear even 1 1/2 years later... but I wonder how many of the old podcasts it will download before it's just downloading current ones?
