I looked at Tivoli iPal radios online. There are few places that sell them. Amazon had one for sale at $117.00 (normally they're $220.00 to as much as $285.00 for the designer color ones). The one Amazon had, however, was Pink. I couldn't find anywhere else online selling the colored ones, at least for anything less than the $285.00 price, which is kind of sad because they come in some cool colors -- electric blue, red, orange. The pink one was very pink, however. And actually, it was listed as pink by Amazon (with a picture of a bright pink radio) but then they allowed you to select from different colors, but all colors were out of stock and the one on sale was by someone else, who didn't list the actual color, so I had to assume that it was probably pink.

It didn't come to that, however, since I was able to buy a gray one from Ebay for about the same price, even a bit less. That radio arrived on Saturday, but it has a problem -- the battery is dead. A new battery from Tivoli is $22.00 plus S&H, so rather than send the radio back and buy one for nearly twice what I paid (or buy the pink one), I ordered a new battery.

I was also a bit annoyed that I was sent a "PAL" radio, not an iPal. There's no functuional difference between the two, but the PAL is the older model (hence the dead battery, I think).

For the last week and a half, every time I've gone to Amazon's web page that pink Tivoli radio has appeared on the front page. Worse, when I'm visiting other pages such as icanhascheezburger.com, little adds appear on the page advertising that pink Tivoli. I know they're Amazon ads because Amazon is virtually the only place on the web selling a pink Tivoli, at least with that picture. Probably Amazon ads have been popping up on other sites for a long time trying to get me to buy things I've looked at on their web site, but it's that bright pink radio that stands out and made me realize for the first time how Amazon is stalking me in cyberspace. ^_^

I've been reading through the pages of Not Always Right.com for the past week. It's one of my new favorite sites. Last Friday I mentioned to my boss one of the recent stories on there where a guy complains that his voice-activated computer doesn't work, because it won't turn itself on by voice command... and he replied that it was like that scene in Star Trek IV where Scotty tries to talk into the mouse. All weekend I wanted to watch that movie again. I realized I don't own any of the Star Trek movies on dvd. Sunday I went out to Half Price Books to look for them, but they only had two of the next gen ones. I tried Target and then Fred Meyers, but no luck. I know they're old movies, but I sort of thought they'd always be in print, or ought to be in print right now since a new Star Trek film just came out. Anyway, the good news is you can order them from Amazon used for a few bucks each. I ordered Star Trek II and Star Trek IV 2-disc special editions for less than $4 each plus S&H, and Star Trek III 2-disc special edition (one of the odd numbered films) was .01 cents plus S&H. That's a deal!

I should get them all, though.
