Sep. 14th, 2009 05:10 pmFriday I went over on my morning break to have an estimate done on my car. The guy told me that the auto glass dealer next door could get me fixed up right away, but I went to this collision place because they work with State Farm. I didn't want to have to deal with any hassle, just pay my deductible and let them do the rest. As it turned out, he was able to get my car fixed that day anyway. I left it there and it was done by 3:30 PM.
Saturday I drove to Fry's and bought a new Panasonic electric razor and a new thumb drive. I got a 4 gig HP usb drive for $9.99. There's even a $3.00 rebate, if I do that. There was a rebate on the razor too, so I probably should do it right away. I debated getting a 8 gig or 16 gig drive (16 gig was about $35 for the HP, with a rebate) and even considered buying more than one. After all, I lost 4. But I don't need 4, I only had 4 because I go to Fry's a lot and if there's a sale I buy a shiny new one. So I bought the cheap 4 gig knowing that I'll probably get an 8 or 16 gig when I find it for a good price later. ^_^
I drove to Gallway Traders on... whatever street that is above Ballard, 15th? I knew they probably closed at 5 PM and that's when I got there. There were some Japanese people just entering for a tour, apparently, and I slipped in and grabbed what I was after -- a leather checkbook cover. My old one lasted 20 years, at least, and wasn't wearing out any time soon. Unfortunately they only had 1 in stock, and it was brown. But anyway, I got it and was out the door inside 2 minutes so I don't think they minded that I snuck in just as they were trying to close.
Lastly I drove to Ikea. I couldn't find a purse/bag like the one I had before, but I got something more or less similar.
Sunday I put in a bid for a Tivolio iPal on Ebay and won it for $102.00 plus S&H. They are $220.00 new on Amazon, although there was a bright pink one for sale used for $117.00. VERY bright pink. I got a white/silver one like I had before.
I drove to Uwajamaya and met Tom there. I bought two manga and a large Ah! My Goddess 20th anniversary art book. I've seen most of the art inside, but it's nice to have a big picture book with everything in one place. It was only $25.00 too, which is a very good price for such a large art book.
Funny thing is, I was at Uwajamaya last Fall during the final Seahawks home game and didn't realize they were playing until I was walking outside and heard the roar of the crowds. Sunday was the first game of the season, and there I was again downtown next to the stadium and didn't realize there was a game until I heard the crowds. I'm just lucky both times that it wasn't just before or after the game. ^_^
Tom and I went to lunch at Gordito's Burritos in Greenwood, then went to the Oak Tree to see the movie 9. Basically... it looks like a Tim Burton movie, has some really nice visual stuff going on, but the characters are 2-dimensional and the plot leaves a lot of things not really explained. It felt hollow. Tom said afterwards that "probably Up was a little better written" and I said, "Probably? It was much better written!" I haven't even seen Up yet, but I know that Pixar doesn't write 2-dimensional characters.
If there's nothing quotable in the entire movie, then you may have a problem. ^_^
