Sep. 24th, 2009 02:48 pmAt PAX I pre-ordered Aion Online. I got $5.00 off and a tee shirt. Even then, I figured the tee shirt was the best part of the deal.
Aion came out Monday. Monday night, Amazon told me that my order had been shipped.
Wednesday I was at Fred Meyers and saw Aion for sale for $49.95.
The game was in my mailbox when I got home. In addition to the $5.00 off, Amazon dropped the price $3.00 to $46.95 (they sent me a separate e-mail to make sure I knew what a great deal they were making for me). After shipping and handling and tax, I paid something like $52.00.
I would have had to pay tax at the store too I suppose. Still, given that it came 2 days late, I'm not sure how wonderful a deal I got. The tee shirt is nice though. ^_^
The minimum requirements for running the game are pretty high. 2.8 gig machine, for starters. I'm quite certain that my gaming machine would have trouble running it, and anyway I barely have enough free memory on my main hard drive so I'm not even going to bother trying to install it. I really need to upgrade that machine, it's well over 4 years old now I think, but that takes money I don't have right now (especially after fixing my car window and replacing stuff that was stolen.)
My so-called non-gaming machine is actually newer. It can probably run the game, I think. However, I don't have a DVD drive in it at the moment.
So... I guess I need to buy and install one. ^_^
