Sep. 25th, 2009 08:44 amI drove up to Fry's last night and bought a Pioneer external USB DVD writer. It's a lot slower than an internal one, but otherwise pretty neat. I didn't even know you could buy them like that, although it makes perfect sense.
I installed Aion. It runs ok on my computer, although it had problems wit the intro movie. I played a bit. I got a mage up to level 3.
It's like WoW or EQII, only prettier. There are only two races, the angelic light-side types and the demonic dark-side types. You can customize your character to look like a human, elf, dwarf, halfling, gnome... but basically you're still one race or the other.
You're only allowed to pick one side on any given server. They also won't allow the races to get too far out of balance, so if there are a lot of one race, you aren't allowed to pick that. I've read that everyone wants to play the Asmodeans or whatever the demon-race is called, and that right now it's all but impossible to pick that side on any server. I like the angelic race better, they look nicer. But Ali told me that Nara and most of their friends wanted to play the demonic side.
Anyway, since I don't know what server they're on it's probably a moot point at the moment.
