This would be the list of songs my nephew just handed to me... that he'd like me to put on a cd for him.
1. Black Sabbath -- Iron Man
2. Iron Maiden -- Run to the Hills
3. Skid Row -- Slave to the Grind
4. Slipknot -- Wait and Bleed
5. Korn -- Coming Undone
6. Dio -- Rainbow in the Dark
7. Metallica -- Enter Sandman
8. Quiet Riot -- Metal Health
9. Twisted Sister -- We're Not Going to Take It
10. System of a Down -- Toxicity
11. Ozzy Osbourne -- Bark at the Moon
12. Guns & Roses -- Welcome to the Jungle
13. Guns & Roses -- Paradise City
14. AC/DC -- Back In Black
15. AC/DC -- Hell's Bells
16. System of a Down -- Alone
17. Drowning Pool -- Step Up
18. The Explosion -- No Revolution
19. Megadeth -- Peace Sells But Who's Buying.
So my thoughts on this are as follows:
1. I should record Bob River's "I Am Santa Claus" takeoff of Iron Man. That song always kills me. He did a Jingle Hell's Bells too.
2. I actually own Skid Row, Metallica, and Guns & Roses. Don't own any of the other stuff, although I'm not opposed to owning some classic Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, or AC/DC.
3. I own several Megadeth cds, just not the one in question. Probably should record Hanger 18 for him, or Tornado of Souls, or The World Needs A Hero.
4. I never much liked Quiet Riot or Twisted Sister, although I could probably pick them up very cheaply. I am somewhat opposed to owning things like Korn or Slipnot on the general principal that they are nu metal and what's more, they are really sucky nu metal. Probably ditto for System of a Down. I don't even know what Drowning Pool or The Explosion is, but that probably means they're even suckier nu metal.
5. My nephew needs a cd of classic metal that I actually own that he just doesn't realize he wants yet. How about Deep Purple -- Perfect Strangers, or of course, Smoke on the Water?
6. Geez, Slave to the Grind by Skid Row? I had no idea anyone even remembered that cd. That's great stuff, very heavy. I'm begining to think I could introduce my nephew to a lot of the things I listen to and he might like most of it.
