So Inara says we should remodel our land, and shouldn't we get rid of the cabin on the island that we never use, and what do I think we should put there instead?

And I have no idea. Why do people decided to do something and then ask you what they should do? But I think about it, and I remember that I always wanted a grotto at our place in Prometheus like the one Jalia has. (My character Jalia has land on the main continent, but I usually play Mint who lives with Inara in Prometheus). There's a place that builds these grottos... little pools with pavillions and poses and waterfalls and plants and ambient sounds. They're very well done and not at all expensive.

After that I start thinking of other things. I want to expand on my Underwater Tiki Club -- which only consists of a simple stone bar and some tiki signs to kind of form a half-walled area on the sea floor beneath our dock. I'd like to place a wrecked boat on the floor of the ocean, I've seen that done and it looked pretty cool. I'd like a secret cave too, underwater where people wouldn't necessarily find it easily. As for the island, I dunno, maybe it could use a lighthouse.

Inara is happy to hear some ideas, and off we go to look at grottos. But we don't find what we like, and Taima comes to visit us but is "creeped out" by the renlentlessly cheerful, sunny, romantic atmosphere of the place where these grottos are sold... so I take us to another place that sounded interesting, a place that has a hidden underwater grotto room with some poseballs for romantic couples. This leads to Taima and Inara making out and I give up on finding anything I want for the night, and we head back to our place... but I get there much earlier, and I decide I want to try and build a tiled rock floor as the beginnings of an underwater grotto similar to the one we just saw.

Only I don't have a lot of textures to work with. I make a quick trip to Yadni's Junkyard (a haven in Second Life for everything free) and I pick up ALL the free textures they have, something I should have done long ago. Then I go back to our Tiki Club and I even get back before Inara and Taima have come home.

Soon I'm dropping boxes full of textures onto the ground and transporting all the textures within to my inventory. Inara asks me if something's wrong because I'm ignoring her and Taima, but I'm not really interested in what they're doing, and surprised that she didn't even notice all the boxes of textures I was scattering everywhere. I'm too busy on my current project.

They go up to the house, and I start sorting through textures. I find a workable floor texture and build a large floor, then start building huge walls of rock. Soon I have a large area around our Tiki Club all walled in, save for a doorway opening. I make a roof, and spend time adding rocks to make it less obviously a rectangular room area. There's a hole in the back corner of the roof, and there is another ten feet above the roof up to the docks, so I decide to build a second room above the first -- a smaller hidden room with just the little hole as a secret entrance.

At one point I tried to stop and go to sleep, but my mind was too full of ideas and I couldn't sleep. I got up and worked on it some more, walling off the back room from the front area so that we have a main Tiki Room lounge/bar/dance area, and a back room to do something else with. I finished off the hidden uppper room, and fixed the entrance to the whole place to make it a semi-secret hidden entrance.

Over the next couple of days I redesigned and decorated the inside. I found that by doing a search on the word Tiki I came up with several designers in SL who had Tiki stuff for sale -- tiki gods, torches, tiki huts and bars and table sets and tiki furniture. I bought several different tiki gods, some more pictures, a table set, some couches and chairs, a monkey to sit up on top of the beer cooler, a tiki god candle, a surf board for decoration, a dart board to put on the wall, an old boat anchor, a coke machine, and a blender that when you click on it it gives you a drink called "shark attack", and when you drink it sharks appear around you (kinda goofy looking cartoon ones) and then the glass empties and lets the people around you know that someone needs to buy you another. Very cute!

I also spent time working with textures in photoshop for my own stuff... made a tiki god myself, and a box of corona beer, and put up some corona posters and made some corona coasters to set on the bar. Overall the place looks pretty good. ^_^

In other news, although I haven't played Everquest with my friends in my old guild for years, they are still good people who provide me with sekrit connections that allow me to build the cd that my nephew wants for less money than it might cost otherwise.... ^_^
