miko2I tend to check my e-mail religeously when I'm home. I really mean that... I get down on my knees and pray to the POP3 Server... well okay I don't do that. But I check it often. So this whole FFML thing... when I got up this morning, I had 43 new messages. Gads. Almost all of them on the subject of the FFML dying. But better than that, while I'm still wading through the messages, before I've even closed Thunderbird, it's binging me to say there are new messages available. Same thing happened when I got home from work... 64 new messages waiting for me. Yikes! And more arrived in the half-hour I spent wading through what was there.
By the way, Thunderbird is a very bizarre e-mail client in some respects. It always immediately goes out and finds out how many new messages there are, and bings and tells me how many there are, but it doesn't bother to download anything until I tell it to. That's a little annoying. And then when I look in a folder with new messages, it shows me everything up to the last message from before... I always have to scroll down first in order to see the new messages. That's annoying too. I don't know why it's like that, it seems to want to force me to work harder to get to my new e-mail.
Today's fun link comes with a Rated R warning... or maybe even Rated X. I remembered this blog from a long time ago, and one of my old guildmates helped me find it again. It's only a few pages long but it's hilarious. It happens to be about a girl who (at the time) worked as a video store clerk in a store with a large porno collection. Read at your own risk!
Also My Silent Wake at MySpace.com. Myspace seems like a popular place all around these days, but it makes a good place for bands to advertise themselves and let you listen to some of their music. Anyway My Silent Wake is a more or less Christian doom/death metal band from England. I probably would never have been interested in them if I hadn't gotten to listen to them first, but it turns out this is an Ian Arkley band. Ian was in a heavy thrash band called Seventh Angel that I really loved, and was in a doom band calle Paramaceum that I own too. Anyway this stuff has some very nice melody so I like it, your mileage may vary. ^_^
The name is very similar to My Dying Bride, which is a band infamous for being dark, doomy and depressing to the Nth degree. I don't think that's on accident but that's only one of their influences. (I've never actually listened to My Dying Bride, actually).
