Hoeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
You're a Magical Girl!

You're sugar-hyped, caffeine-hyped, and permanently genki-er than a whole busload of Disney characters on crack. You eat too much, you're a total klutz, and somehow this makes you an ideal candidate for saving the world. If you're really unlucky, you get to get naked in an embarrassing transformation sequence in every single episode, with only a few sparkles and pastel blobs to cover your dignity.

Which generic anime character are you?

List 10 musical artists that you like (they don't have to be in anyparticular order). Make your list before viewing the questions below.

1. King's X
2. Varttina
3. Steeleye Span
4. Ressurection Band
5. Daniel Amos/Swirling Eddies/Lost Dogs/Terry Taylor
6. Yat-Kha
7. Tori Amos
8. Korpiklaani
9. U2
10. Loreena McKennitt

What was the first song you ever heard by 6 - Yat-Kha?
Karangailyg Kara Hovaa (Dyngyldai). This song was on "Deep In The Heart of Tuva: Cowboy Music from the Wild East" which I bought from Rubato used music store in Bellevue for $9.99. I listened to tracks from the cd in the store, and when I came across this song I could not believe my ears. I tried to track down the band's cd, and wound up ordering it from a European cd store online (not available in the US at the time). Now I own a whole bunch of their cds and I've gotten quite a few other people hooked on them. ^_^

What is your favorite lyrics of 5 - Daniel Amos/Swirling Eddies et al.?
There are a lot to choose from, Terry Taylor is a lyrical genius. But probably "Big Guns" because it was written around 1990 and still holds true today. It's a very cynical look at the American Presidency justifying war and bloodshed through religeous paranoia. "Lock and load, and spray on the armor-all. Let the dogs of war drop a rocket on the White House lawn. Wear the emperor's new clothes down to the destruction ball. Singing yipi-ki-yippi-ki, move those little doggies along. We could bring out the big guns tonight, and right all the wrong, that's right, We'll shed some blood, and shed some light, When we bring out the big guns tonight."

How many times have you seen each of your ten bands live?
I've seen King's X three times. I saw Ressurection Band three times. I saw Daniel Amos once. That's it.

What is your favorite song by 7 - Tori Amos?
Most likely Winter, it's always been one of my favorite semi-sad melodies. But I also really like Marys of the Sea and The Beekeeper.

Is there a song of 3 - Steeleye Span - that makes you sad?
Sure, a few, The Blacksmith, All Things Are Quite Silent. But really, sad songs aren't their forte. Gruesome songs sung with a happy melody are more their style. ^_^

What is your favorite song by 2 - Varttina?
Probably Outona Omilla Mailla "A Stranger In My Own Land" which is a very fun, energetic song. ^_^ (The song isn't so fun, but since I don't understand Finish, ya know...)

What is your favorite song by 9 - U2?
New Year's Day, easily.

What is your favorite album by 5 - Daniel Amos?
Darn Floor, Big Bite, which is the most obscure (least successful) cd ever produced by this quite obscure band. It's a work of pure genius, focusing on our inability to truly know or understand God. The title comes from Koko the gorilla, who after witnessing an earthquake on a television, described it thus in sign language "darn floor, big bite". Terry Taylor suggests our grasp on who or what God is is about at the same level. ^_^

How did you get into 3 - Steeleye Span?
I had an English teacher in high school who was really just a young kid -- in his early 20's -- and who, for a music appreciation class, played for us the albumn "All Around My Hat" by Steeleye Span. Strangely enough this really didn't grab me at the time. Years later I was sitting in the commons on the Seattle Pacific campus, and a small celtic band was playing -- Golden Bough (at the time featuring Lief Sorbye, who would later form the celtic-rock band Tempest, another favorite of mine). It was like a light went on in my head that said: You love this! You love celtic music!.

Afterwards I tried to track down more celtic music, and at some point I remembered Steeleye Span. I started buying their albumns, and I was hooked.

What is your favorite song by 4 - Ressurection Band?
They have so many good ones, but I really like "Pauper's Grave" a lot. It's a condemnation of people who ignore the problems of the world, who don't want to know, don't want to care, don't want to do anything. Plus it really rocks hard.

Who is your favorite band member in 6 - Yat-Kya?
Well the band would not exist without Albert Kuvezin, so I'd have to pick him.

Which of the 10 has influenced you the most?
Most likely Terry Taylor, I just agree with a lot of the way he looks at the world.

What is a good memory concerning 8 - Korpiklaani?
I don't know if I have any memories associated with them, other than driving to work listening to their music.

Is there a song by 10 - Loreena McKennitt that makes you sad?
Loreena has some incredibly sad, melancholy songs. The Highwayman, for example.

What is your favorite song of 1 - King's X?
Summerland, I think.

How did you become a fan of 7 - Tori Amos?
I don't actually remember if I heard her music first, or just bought her cd based on reviews, but after I bought Little Earthquakes I was hooked.
