I kind of want to take one of the characters from this comic and make it into an LJ user pic. ^_^
It's been a weird day. Nara and Ali have been working on their suits all day, and now i's late in the evening and they still don't have everything done. I kind of wish they had never tried to do these costumes... except that they would have been saying, "Oh, we should have gone for it, we could have done it!" Only assembling complicated costumes at the last minute when you've never done such a thing before and want everything to be perfect is... well... next to impossible.
In the meantime, I haven't really been able to go back to my room and relax because they've been working on the costumes every time I walk in... the bathroom is always in use... and my bed (the roll-away one) is up against the wall to give them room to work. Basically my room, which I normally use as a sanctuary to get away from the con for a while and relax or veg out, is anything but. I'm really hoping that they get the costumes together and everything works and they have a good time, but I'm worried that they won't get their act together until 1 or 2 am, won't get the chance to really show off the costumes much, and will be a little disappointed or upset with how things have turned out. And I may not get to sleep until late tonight.
Right now I'm in Gene and Michael and Sky and J'wyl's room. Joe Vs. the Volcano is playing on Mike's laptop. I was planning to try and recharge my computer batteries to full and my iPod as well, but naturally Gene and Mike and Sky have so many different electronic devices that there's no available power chord slot anywhere, despite two extra power strips. So I'm using my battery to type this.
I can't get any net connection from the dealer's room, only from the hotel rooms. Perhaps that's a good thing. I've written quite a bit on Fuzzy Ghost, my Christmas ghost story that I want to have available for the December writer's night. I also rewrote a scene after talking to Michael and getting some ideas on the subject of holiday celebrations on the Tai-Pan, and now Angie has a small part in the story as well. I'm actually doing a bit better than Gene at the moment, as far as getting work done on a Christmas ghost story.
We went to Stir Crazy for dinner -- Gene, Michael, Sky and I. Dinner was very good. We were supposed to call J'wyl and get an order from her but she never answered her phone, so we left her a message saying that we'd pick something for her, and Sky got an order of Sezchuan Chicken. Then when we came back, it turned out that she'd eaten already. We wandered around to con ops and then the artist's alley looking for someone who wanted a free meal, but inexplicably everyone had already eaten or wasn't hungry. Finally someone called Security and they enthusiastically asked to have the food sent over, so it found a good home.
Today I managed to avoid buying any more art (I bought five prints yesterday -- which really should be my limit for the con). I managed to see the art show, which is a good thing as I don't always manage to do that. I bought a little winged puppy for Nara, it was very cute. I haven't found anything to get for Ali yet. I bought two cute hats with kitty ears for my nieces for Christmas. I thought about getting my little niece a winged kitty but the wings have metal in them and I thought a kid her age might break them rather quickly. But I might buy something at the mall tomorrow. I want to go back -- the mango oolong tea I bought at Teavanna there is increadibly good, and I wanted to buy some more tea to take back to Seattle.

gilmorelion finally. That was fun -- it's been waaay too long. Also I've managed to draw two quick sketches in the small sketch book I picked up yesterday too. All in all, it's been a good con. I hope Nara and Ali are able to say the same when all is said and done, they didn't see much besides the inside of our room today.
