Saturday I made my trip to Costco. I hadn't been to one in many years. Knowing that you can spend a lot of money easily there, I promised that I would keep it below $50.00. I was aided in this by a few things: Costco Size is often more than a single person like me would ever use, and often the savings is minimal -- in fact compared to what you can buy elsewhere on sale, the savings may be nonexistent.

So I didn't buy the massive package of 48 rolls of toilet paper (or however many it was) for $16.00. It would take me a year to use that much, and it's not even cheaper than what I can buy on sale. I was amused by the giant quart-sized package of olive tapanade -- I like the stuff, but who could eat that much? Obviously some things are for big parties only.

The iPods and accessories seemed to be priced pretty well. If I buy a new iPod or accessories for my current one, Costco might be the way to go.

I remembered cds and dvds being cheap at Costco, but the selection sucks and the price on the movies didn't even seem that cheap to me.

Food is always a good deal at Costco. I found a box of six tortilla lime & chipolte encrusted tilapia fillets for about $10.00. I don't know if that was a great price but I've never seen that at my regular store. It sounded good and I haven't had fish in a while so I got it. I also picked up a large bag of 18 salmon burger patties, and a 2 lb baby loaf of pepperjack cheese (I didn't even know it came in 2 lb loaves, heh). Last, I picked up a box of snack bars. I was going to get some Kashi granola bars which I like, but I picked something I'd never seen before. The jury's still out on whether I like them or not, it was not quite what I was expecting.

Anyway, that was $44.00 so I managed to keep my promise to myself.

After that I stopped at Fred Meyers and picked up some broccoli and yellow squash. I steamed some of that while I baked two of the fish patties (two because I hadn't eaten all day). That made a nice meal.

I went to Applebee's on Sunday with my parents. We went to Fred Meyers where they helped me pick out presents for my two nieces whose birthdays were this weekend and a few weeks ago (whoops!). After they left I played City of Heroes. That was essentially my weekend.

Here's the difference between me and my dad: my toilet in the guest bathroom has been leaking for a year. I've ignored it this whole time. My dad noticed it and wasn't satisfied until he'd fixed the problem....
