My ISP Sucks

miko2I've rarely had problems with Comcast until just the last week or so. Oh, every once in a while I'd lose service, but it was something that might happen once every four or six months, and last for maybe 20 minutes... something that you'd forget about before it happened again.
In the last week though I've been losing service or having brownouts regularly. It's very annoying.
Anyway, that's about all that's on my mind right now. I think I'll take a short walk and get ready for work. My plans for today and tomorrow are to get some writing done (I have tomorrow off before the con). I'm working on an old story about Micki Ito's childhood, which takes place on Otomo Station above Serengeti. After reading Sky's story Twice A Fool last night, it occurred to me that it takes place on the same station, which allows me to have some fun. Sky's story refers to it as "Serengeti Station" and is already published; I'm not sure if the name "Otomo Station" is established or published anywhere or if I just made it up for my story, but I like the name and obviously Serengeti Station could easily be a nickname and not the official name, since it orbits the planet Serengeti. Anyway, I sat down and calculated how many years earlier my story takes place... Micki is listed as joining the Iktome 35.76.09, Sky's story takes place three years later at 35.79.07... Micki is listed on her CIS as 28 years old, which is a number not tied to a specific date of course, but let's assume for my own purposes that she's 26 when she joins the Iktome... and she's about 12 in my story (I may make her 13 or 14), so that give me a working date of roughly 35.63.00 or so.
None of the project ships appear in my story so I'm not tied to a specific date... I just wanted to try and figure out which characters from Sky's story might be around at the time. Captain Jonah Cambort is described as an older raccoon, he could certainly have been around back then. Micki is supposed to have a friend a little older than her who is planning to join the space marines/planetary defense force, and I might be able to assume that's Trey Falo or possibly one of the other members of the Griot, although most of them don't appear to be that old in Sky's story. If Micki's friend is around 15-17 he would be about 31-33 at the time of Sky's story. I'm assuming that would work for Trey at least, maybe one of the others. If I make Micki a year or two older when my story takes place, then we're talking 29-31 which works even better.
I have a lot of scattered bits written on this story, and I just need to try and pull it all together into actual scenes. The essential plot of the story is how Micki loses her father and becomes a space pirate... but it also involves how she loses all faith in her father... the exact details of what happens and what's important for the plot and what scenes actually drive the story have been hard to nail down but I think I've got a good hook now, starting from a point when Micki beats up a bully and gets kicked out of school. That feels like something that can set everything else in motion. ^_^
I think I do need to make her at least 13 or 14.
Which other stories take place on Serengeti? Aside from Good Morning Dr. Bot. I might have to check that story and see if there's anyone in that who might possibly make a cameo appearance in my story as well. ^_^ I should try to figure out how old Bonehead would be around 35.63.00 to 35.65.00.
