Today's Song: Fall On Me by R.E.M.

Because I've been listening to a lot of alternative pop lately, and especially a lot of Idlewild who are supposed to be greatly influenced by R.E.M., I went back through my R.E.M. collection to see what I had and to add some tunes to my iTunes rotation. As it turned out (as it often turns out with me), I only had one of their cds ripped to my hard drive, Document, so the first thing to do was rip all of my other cds. I own a lot of their early stuff -- all of their studio albums through Monstor, with the exception of their second cd Reckoning and their most famous cd Automatic For The People. I should probably pick those up at some point too.

After this I tried to pick a few of my favorite songs to drop into iTunes. Losing My Religeon was one of these, it being one of my all-time favorite R.E.M. songs, but I went looking through the earlier cds that I didn't remember so well to find what songs from there that I really, really liked.

Fall On Me is such a song -- a great example of R.E.M. at their best long before they went in a more commercial direction. It's a song about the sky falling. ^_^ But that hardly matters, it's just a nice alternative pop song that I like quite a bit.
